Rebecca graduated from Swinburne Film and Television School in 1993 with her first accomplished short film Proboscis shot by the award winning Iranian cinematographer Firouz Malekzadeh. She went on to make Queeny and Deep both inspired by her fascination in the Melbourne-centric 70's suburban youth culture 'Sharpies' which she observed growing up in Carrum Victoria. (see Productions - Sharpies)Rebecca's first fully funded production was the documentary Save Our Sons (SOS) produced by Elisa Argenzio and pre-sold to SBS in 1997. SOS is about the women of the Save Our Sons movement, leaders in the anti-conscription, anti-war movement of the 1960's in Melbourne, Victoria. Her mother Jean McLean was the instigator and convener of SOS Victoria (see Productions - Family). She went on to work in television on programs such as George Negus Tonight (ABCTV), Missing Persons Unit (CH9), Bread TV (Ch10).In 2006 she moved to Central Australia to manage a remote Aboriginal media organisation PY Media (Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara) and fell in love with the desert and its communities. From Media Manager she moved to the role of Series Producer for CAAMA Productions and set up their multi program unit for their NITV content including Black Chat, Grounded, Billboard and Pmarra Country. Her passion for justice inspired by her family and the Aboriginal communities has led her to her current role as Producer of Yarnin, an award winning media training and recording program with a multiplatform output.Yarnin is a regional mobile training program working with Aboriginal communities throughout Victoria. The aim of Yarnin is to bring elders and young people together to record Aboriginal Elders stories focusing on land, community, culture and Land Rights whilst training a new generation of Aboriginal filmmakers.Yarnin is a co production partnership between Yarnin Pictures: John Harding, Bobby Nicholls and Rebecca McLean and Open Channel.Rebecca has also collaborated with many artists including Tracey Moffatt, Lawrence Johnston, David Bridie, Anne Cabrie, Nahji Chu, Clinton Nain, Destiny Deacon, Virgina Fraser, Rupert Betheras, Jeff Raglus, Eva Orner, Sarah Barton and many many more.+ Read More
