PTFE Compound

This specification covers PTFE compounds or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) filled molding compounds made with virgin PTFE resins defined in a certain specification except Types I, IV, V, and VI. PTFE compounds are classified into two types which are Type I as the nonpelletized material use for general purpose compression molding and Type II as the pelletized or free-flowing material use for molding, automatic molding or ram extrusion. Each type is further classified into thirteen grades distinguished by the nature of the filler. Different tests shall be conducted in order to determine the following properties: filler content, bulk density, specific gravity, and tensile properties.

Scope
 
1 This specification covers polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) filled molding compounds made with virgin PTFE resins defined in Specification D 4894, except Types I, IV, V, and VI.

Note 1

This specification can be used as a model for other PTFE compounds having particulate fillers that can survive the sintering temperatures of PTFE as can those listed in this specification. This specification is restricted to virgin PTFE base resin for technical reasons. Recycled or reprocessed material cannot be processed successfully.

Note 2

The properties measured on commercially fabricated parts may differ from the listed values for samples prepared by the procedures given in this specification, depending on part geometry and processing parameters.

There is no ISO equivalent to this specification.

    PTFE Paste

    PTFE paste are processed by mixing them with a hydrocarbon liquid to facilitate extrusion as a paste. After extrusion, the liquid is removed from the extrudate with heat. The resulting low-density product can then be used or heated further to obtain a solid resin structure. The properties of the solid resin are similar to those of Teflon® PTFE granular molding powders.

    PTFE Ram Extrusion Grade

    The PTFE ram extrusion grade prior the production of profiles in PTFE but can be also used for UHMW-PE, Compounds and for other types of materials like plastic waste. The PTFE ram extrusion grade profile can be manufactured endlessly and cut by the continuous extruding on each length. The basic material, which ptfe powders brought consolidated into an extruding pipe heated on sintertemperatur and. At the same time with the compression the Extrudat is reforwarded by the extruding pipe and comes out at the end as finished profile suitable for the subsequent treatment. The ram extrusion is suitable for rods, tubes and other profiles. Beside PTFE it is possible to extrude materials like for UHMW PE or GUR as well as their Compounds. CommonTec RAM extruder is characterised by high-quality mechanical engineering and innovative control and automatic systems. Most advanced control and safeguards methods guarantee a maximum of precision both with the pressing procedure as well as in the sinter zone. Pressure and speed governors let the pressing process adjust individually to the respective profile. The temperature zones can be adapted to the respective requirements separately steplessly. Speeds, pressures and temperatures in the individual zones are continuously supervised and regulated. In order to ensure a continuous quality, once determined profile data can be stored and reused.

    Our Nameel F46 tubing is also known as FEP tubing. These PTFE compression moulding grade are manufactured by ram extruding method with FEP resin adding additive or without additive. These PTFE compression moulding grade nameel tubing can be long term used under the temperature from -80°C to 200°C.
