PIG Iron

PIG Iron is an intermediary product of smelting iron ore with coke and resin. It has high carbon content ranging from 3.5 to 4.5 % that makes it brittle thus, limiting its direct application for various purposes. The original shape of the molds used for these ingots was in the form of branches formed in sand, with many individual ingots at right angles to a central channel or runner.

Wire Rods

Wire Rod is a rolled alloy or non alloy steel product, produced from semi and having round, rectangular or other cross-section. The fine cross-sections may be achieved by subsequent cold forming. Wire rod is wound in to coils and used for many different purposes.

Depending upon how it is cold formed and heat treated, wire is used to produce wire ropes, barbed wire, wire mesh and nails, along with springs, welded wire mesh and reinforcement wire.

Sponge Iron

Sponge Iron is used as a raw material for making steel in electric arc furnaces and induction furnaces, substituting and supplementing the previously used scrap. It is produced by reducing iron ore without melting it. This makes for an energy-efficient feedstock for steel manufacturing industries which earlier used to rely upon scrap metal. Sponge iron is increasing being used in steel making because of lower availability of scrap in the international market and increased use of electric arc furnaces in steel making. Sponge iron can also be processed further to create wrought iron. In India, there is high demand for sponge iron because of its use in steel production. India is the largest producer of sponge iron in the world today.
