Gates Predator Belts

Predator V-belts can handle 1.4-2.2 times more horsepower than the equivalent size standard V-belt. So you can design a more compact drive that weighs less, puts less strain on costlier components, and uses fewer belts. All of which saves you money.

1- Reduce friction and heat buildup under shock load with abrasion and puncture-resistant bareback (non-rubber) double-layer fabric cover.

2- Minimal need for retensioning due to stronger-than-steel aramid fiber or Kevlar®2 tensile cords that reduce belt stretch by 50% over standard V-belts.

3-Oil and heat resistant chloroprene compound body, rated for 180°F, out performs other rubbers in harsh operating conditions.

4- Extend drive life with the patented curved sidewall that allows belt to enter the sheave groove cleanly and smoothly, reducing sidewall wear on belt and sheave.

5- Multiple-layer tie band joins belts together into a Predator PowerBand® that provides lateral rigidity for reduced vibration and belt turn-over on multi-groove sheaves

 

Gates Micro-V Belt

Gates Micro-V® Belts outperform other V-ribbed belts because they are truncated(shorter). This shorter profile gives the new Micro-V® Belts increased flexibility, reduced heat buildup and allows them to operate at extra high speeds on smaller diameter sheaves.

Specially designed to replace original equipment belts on extra heavy applications such as machine tools, compressors, pumping equipment and other industrial equipment requiring V-ribbed belts.

 

Two more advantages of the truncated are:

  1. The belt does not bottom in the sheave
  2. The belt can better tolerate debris in the sheave groove. They are extremely smooth running and highly resistant to oil, heat and other adverse conditions.

PoweRated® V belts meet the requirements of higher power, clutching, heavy shock loaded and back idler driven lawn and garden equipment. Gates PoweRated® V belts can be used as a substitute for equivalent sizes of Truflex® belts.

Gates Polyflex® JB® V-belts are precision products. For maximum efficiency and service life, they must be applied, aligned, tensioned and maintained accordingly .

In general, designers need to pay special attention to adequate bracketry and support. Protective precautions must be taken in hostile environments where the belts could be contaminated by oil, debris or foreign material.
