These weighbridges are designed, fabricated and constructed in two types:

( 1 ) Pit type
( 2 ) Pitless type as under

( A ) Pit type Weighbridge :

For non-hilly areas where the construction of Pit is not a costly affair.
Most public weighbridges prefer this design as it occupies less space and the ramps are not required on either side.
Easy movement of vehicle on platform.

( B ) Pitless Weighbridge :

Used where the excavation work for foundation is difficult or construction of Pit is expensive.
There is no water logging during rainy season. Therefore no drainage required.
Problem of pit maintenance is eliminated.
All parts, accessible above ground level. Therefore easy maintenance.
