These weighbridges are designed, fabricated and constructed in two types:( 1 ) Pit type ( 2 ) Pitless type as under ( A ) Pit type Weighbridge : - For non-hilly areas where the construction of Pit is not a costly affair.
- Most public weighbridges prefer this design as it occupies less space and the ramps are not required on either side.
- Easy movement of vehicle on platform.
( B ) Pitless Weighbridge : - Used where the excavation work for foundation is difficult or construction of Pit is expensive.
- There is no water logging during rainy season. Therefore no drainage required.
- Problem of pit maintenance is eliminated.
- All parts, accessible above ground level. Therefore easy maintenance.
