Liquid CO2

We are engaged in offering liquid co2 gases, which are processed by the professionals of our organization. Our liquid co2 is stringently examined by a quality controlling team on varied parameters on various stages of production. Keeping in the mind the safety of our products during transportation, these gases are packed in leak-proof cylinders. Clients can avail the offered gases at competitive prices.

Physical data:

  • Boiling point (‘f. ):  1 atm –109. 3f (-78. 5o c)
  • Triple point (‘f. ):  1 atm 76 (-56. 66o c and 75. 1 lbs/sqin. A)
  • Vapor pressure (psia):  68f (20o c) 831 psia (56,5 atm)
  • Solubility in water:  68f (20o c), 1 atm 87. 8% by volume
  • Vapor density (lb/cu ft):  68f (20o c), 1 atm 0. 115
  • Specific gravity (air=1):  68f (20o c), 1 atm 1. 53
  • Liquid density (lb/cu ft):  -35 (-37o c) 11 atm 68. 74
  • Specific gravity (h20=1): solid  -110o f (-79o c),1 atm 1. 56
  • Appearance and odor: carbon dioxide is colorless and odorless as gas or liquid

It is stored in containers under its own vapor pressure. If the pressure is suddenly relieved, the liquid rapidly cools as it evaporates and sublimes, forming dry ice at –109. 3o f (-78. 5o c).

health hazard data:

  • Threshold limit value
  • tlv = 5000 ppm [tlv-stel (short term exposure limit) = 15000 ppm (1. 5% by vol. )]
  • Symptoms if ingested, contacted with skin, or vapor inhaled
  • Carbon dioxide does not support life and may produce immediately hazardous atmospheres.
  • At a concentration in excess of 1. 5%, carbon dioxide may produce hyperventilation, headaches, visual disturbances,. Tremor, loss of consciousness and, death. Symptoms of exposure.

In the concentration ranges of 1. 5-5% may be highly variable, but typical symptoms of carbon dioxide intoxication include the following:

  • Co2 concentration: symptoms
  • 3-6%: headaches, dyspnea, perspiration
  • 6-10%: headache, dyspnea, perspiration, tremors, visual disturbance, unconsciousness
  • Over 10%: unconsciousness

If the concentration of carbon dioxide exceeds 10%, unconsciousness can occur without warning, preventing self-rescue. At much higher concentrations, carbon dioxide displaces the oxygen in air below levels necessary to support life.

Toxicological properties:

  • Carbon dioxide is a minor but important constituent of the atmosphere, averaging about 0. 03% or 300 ppm by volume
  • At higher concentrations it affects the respiratory rate. Additional symptoms are described above

Recommended first aid treatment:

  • Persons suffering from the toxic effect of carbon dioxide should be moved to areas with normal atmosphere. Self contained breathing apparatus may be necessary to prevent toxic exposure or asphyxiation of rescue workers
  • Assisted respiration and supplemental oxygen should be given if the victim is not breathing. Frozen tissues should be flooded or soaked with tepid water (105-115o f; 41-46o c) do not use hot water
  • Cryogenic burns, which result in blistering or deeper tissue freezing, should be seen promptly by a physician

Reactivity data:

  • Stability: unstable (conditions to avoid)
  • Incompatibility (material to avoid: if moisture is present, materials must resist carbonic acid
  • Hazardous polymerization: may occur (conditions to avoid)

Solid Co2 (Dry Ice)

Owing to our wide experience, we are able to offer Solid Co2 (Dry Ice). These find wide application in various industries to store various ice cream, pharmaceutical, chemical and medical products. The offered dry ice is used to keep the originality of seafoods intact for long period of time. Moreover, the dry ice is very cold and hence contact with bare skin should be avoided. Clients can easily avail the offered ice at competitive prices.

Dry Ice:

  • Col-dry is SICGIL's trademark for solid carbon dioxide, commonly known as dry ice. Compared to normal ice, dry ice changes directly from a solid to a gas when it absorbs heat.
  • Dry ice with the temperature of MINUS 78.4 º C, absorbs 573 kJ of heat per kg compared to 335 kJ per kg for water ice.

Products:

  • Solid blocks weighing about 4 – 6 kg with the approximate dimensions 7” x 7” x 7”
  • Bigger sizes of Dry ice blocks weighing more than 10 kg is also being made

Applications:

  • In-transit refrigeration of foods, ice cream, pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive materials (like vaccines)
  • Process cooling during chopping/blending/mixing/mincing/grinding operations of meat.
  • Dry ice blasting cleaning system for molds, machinery, buildings etc..
  • Shrink fitting metal components for an interference fit e.g. axles into gear wheels
  • Production of fog effects for theaters, discos etc.
  • Quick and convenient source of inert gas for purging fuel tanks etc.
  • Freeze-branding livestock

Safety:

  • Intensely very cold and hence contact with bare skin should be avoided
  • Carbon dioxide gas is heavier than air and is an ashyxiant - care should be taken to avoid accumulation at low levels or in confined spaces
  • Col-dry must not be placed in tightly sealed containers. Sufficient care (ie) vents must be provided to allow the gas evolved to escape.
