Sioux Power Solutions is equipped with state of the art software to study and perform Power System Analysis for clients to build up and/or expand their electrical systems and helping them achieve improved efficiency, reliability, and safety in operation.

Analytical Services start by considering the present electrical power distribution and the installation. Working closely with the client, to collect the significant data and understanding the proposed expansion, a system design can be presented by processing the data on software and analyzing the results. To analyze various design possibilities, we perform a full spectrum of power systems analysis as mentioned below in brief.

• Load Flow Analysis to effectively maintain power voltage and power levels to prevent overloading, brownouts, and under/over voltage conditions.
  
  
• Short Circuit Analysis to establish protective equipment rating to withstand increased short circuit levels due to higher fault level from the utilities and expansion within.
  
  
• Harmonics Studies to identify unacceptable voltage distortion and frequencies where harmonic amplification caused by nonlinear loads are present. To evaluate the effectiveness of harmonic filters and tuning reactors.
  
  
• Protective System Adequacy Studies to propose appropriate relays and relaying schemes to work with the associated protective equipment with proper discrimination to avoid undue outages and sound protection. Short circuit analysis is carried out based on guidelines set by ANSI as well as IEC standards and the results used further during relay coordination studies.
  
  Relay coordination is plotting time-current curves of protective devices in the power system. The objective of the study is to protect each component against system faults and failures while selectively isolating faults with the minimum system disturbance.
  
  
• Transient Stability Studies to determine the stability and continuity of services under various system disturbances and to establish necessary load shedding requirements where applicable.
  
  
• Motor Acceleration Studies is to ascertain proper starting and running of motors on load with given system inertia without causing tripping or instability in the system.
  
  
• Arc Flash Analysis estimates the arc flash incident energy under a bolted three-phase short circuit fault and determines the flash protective boundary to live parts for shock protection. The Arc Flash Analysis is conducted in conjunction with the ANSI/IEEE and IEC Short-Circuit Device Duty calculations and maintaining compliance with the latest OSHA, NFPA70E, and IEEE 1584 standards.

The abovementioned analysis can be done in accordance with ANSI/IEC IEEE and other relevant standards.

R & D stands for Research, Development. Sioux use this combination of words to cover a very wide range of activities that impact on our business. This can include short term and long term research projects as well as practical and radical areas.

Sioux carry out a wide variety of R & D activities, across the range of disciplines and sectors that we serve. Some R & D projects are carried out internally, with our front line staff using their experience of project delivery to identify gaps in knowledge or tools that we need to improve our service. They then carry out the work needed to move us forwards. In this way the knowledge is developed by the people who need to know it, and it is available to be used immediately.

Development of low cost equipments to enhance efficiency of domestic equipments is underway, e.g. energy saving devices for air conditioners, water heating.

Air pollution has many sources, including industry, motor vehicles, home (e.g. from solid fuel heaters) and sporadic natural events, such as bushfires. The impact of air pollution can be viewed from a global, regional or local perspective.

Recently, international concern has turned to a number of air pollutants which, though found in relatively small concentrations, have the potential to adversely affect human health and the environment through long-term exposure. These substances have been given a variety of names including 'hazardous air pollutants' and 'air toxics', the term adopted in this report.

Scientific understanding of the identity and risk posed by these pollutants is evolving. As a result of this still limited knowledge, the elements and compounds viewed with the greatest concern varies between countries and states.

All of us face a variety of risks to our health as we go about our day-to-day lives. Driving in cars, flying in planes, engaging in recreational activities, and being exposed to environmental pollutants all pose varying degrees of risk. Some risks are simply unavoidable. Some we choose to accept because to do otherwise would restrict our ability to lead our lives the way we want. And some are risks we might decide to avoid if we had the opportunity to make informed choices. Indoor air pollution is one risk that you can do something about.

In the last several years, a growing body of scientific evidence has indicated that the air within homes and other buildings can be more seriously polluted than the outdoor air in even the largest and most industrialized cities. Other research indicates that people spend approximately 90 percent of their time indoors. Thus, for many people, the risks to health may be greater due to exposure to air pollution indoors than outdoors.

Identifying Air Quality Problems
Some health effects can be useful indicators of an indoor air quality problem, especially if they appear after a person moves to a new residence, remodels or refurnishes a home, or treats a home with pesticides. If you think that you have symptoms that may be related to your home environment, discuss them with your doctor or your local health department to see if they could be caused by indoor air pollution. You may also want to consult a board-certified allergist or an occupational medicine specialist for answers to your questions.
