SOLITAIRE MACHINE TOOLS LTD, is a leading manufacturer of Precision Centerless Grinders in India  The company has been working as an exclusive licensee of CINCINNATI MILACRON, USA to manufacture Cincinnati Model 2 OM Centerless Grinder with 200 mm ( 8" ) and 250 mm( 10" ) wheel width. The grinders are known  as No.2.

SMTL has entered in licensing arrangement with Bocca & Malandrone Sunebo S.p.A of Italy in 2007. The Bocca line of grinders will be offered to Indian customers directly by SMTL and worldwide through Bocca, Italy.

SMTL also manufactures small Centerless Grinders with 100 mm ( 4" ) wheel width ( No.1) and large Centerless Grinders with 500 mm ( 20" ) wheel width (No.3)

SMTL offers Rebuilding and CNC Retrofitting services to customers for any model of Cincinnati Centerless Grinders.

SMTL was incorporated in 1987 and was publicly listed on Bombay Stock Exchange in 1994.

SMTL produced its first centerless grinder in 1988. In the years since the plant has produced over 510 Centerless grinders. Approximately 55% of the grinders produced are exported directly to USA and  the balance are being used by Indian customers.

SMTL manufacturers Precision Centerless Grinders  in two primary sizes with wheel widths of 200 mm and 250 mm. A smaller 100 mm wheel width grinder has been developed in 2002 and as of date about 25 machines of this size have been supplied to various customers. The large 500 mm wheel width grinder has been developed in 2007 and couple of machines have been supplied to customers. The grinders are offered standard with conventional hydraulic and pneumatic controls. More advanced CNC versions utilizing Siemens Controls and supporting from 1 to 6 axes of control are also being offered. Optionally, SMTL also designs customized loading / unloading systems for complete automation of the grinding process.

SMTL is currently developing Bocca line of CNC Centerless Grinders  with wheel width from 200 mm to 500 mm. The first  grinder is  expected to be launched in 2008.

The plant operates one or two shifts depending upon the market demand and operational necessities. The plant currently produces four  or five grinders per month. The capacity is available to manufacture eight grinders per month.

The plant is also equipped to undertake Rebuilding and CNC Retrofitment of Cincinnati as well as various other makes and models of European centerless grinders and sub-assemblies of grinders.

The Baroda plant currently has 70 employees working in the manufacturing area, engineering and administrative offices. The Bombay office has 3 employees.

Baroda, India. Located about 400 km north of Bombay. Well connected by road, rail and air to all major cities of India.

PLANT I - The plant is situated in the industrial heart of Baroda. The main building is two stories the the story is utilized for basic manufacturing and machining operations and the second story Is utilized for final assembly and testing of grinders. The complete building is craned with 5 MT capacity to facilitate production. The basic infrastructure like electrical, telephone, fax and email is well developed and has plenty of capacity for future expansion. This Plant is equipped for manufacturing of new No.2 grinders.

PLANT II - Plant II is setup for Remanufacturing and CNC Retrofitting of Cincinnati Centerless Grinder of all sizes and age as well as manufacturing and assembly of New No.1, No.3 and Bocca line of grinders are being assembled .The plant is equipped with 15 ton crane and all required infrastructure for manufacturing  activity.

PLANT LAYOUT- The plant is equipped with a full range of manufacturing machines required for  the production of machine tools.  A list is enclosed . The plant is divided into several key areas: The Heavy machining area, Precision grinding area, Scrapping and Assembly, Paint Room, Quality Control, Stores, Administrative Offices, and Engineering.

The solitaire plant is equipped with horizontal boring mills, jig borers, slide way grinder, precision cylindrical grinder, and surface Grinder, mills & more, to do all in house work of remanufacturing.
