Something Else - History
Something Else,is an ISO 9000-2001 Company It was incorporated in the year 1988. However its origins go back over thirty years.
The foundations of the organization were laid by late Mrs. Malik, a doyen of the Indian handicraft Industry. One of the earliest professionals in the trade, she was also known as the “Grand old lady of Indian Handicrafts”. She was trained at Dodwell International, of the Inchcape Pacific Group, at Hong Kong in 1965. On her return to India, she started and headed MCNell & Magor Buying Agency; which is now part of Li & Fung (Trading) Hong Kong. During her tenure she serviced the following accounts.
- John Lewis Partnership - Next - Selfridges - Dewherst (Serviced Boots and M&S) – Herti - Kaufhoff – Karstadt - Woolworth
and others, mostly in USA, Europe, Australia & Japan

Mrs. Mallk started Something Else with her daughter Mandira a graduate from Parsons School of Design,Paris. With their combined experience, skills & expertise they created an agency that provided design & product development services along with the regular agency services.
Mrs. Malik Passed Away in 1998
The legacy of Mrs. Malik was carried on by her daughter Mandira and her brother Ranjit Malik. Mandira specializes in Product design. Ranjit, a Business Management graduate brings with him experience of twenty years with fortune 500 companies.
Something Else has come a long way since and is currently servicing clients in USA & Europe.
Something Else has the distinction of being the only Buying Agency in India to be an ISO 900-2001 registered organization for the past 5 years.Through guidance and supervision of KPMG & B.Q.R.(Bestcert Quality Registrar) Systems, USA, multi national management consultants, have assisted the company in professional management systems. | The company has a team of 24 merchandisers and QA's and a total staff strength of 32 people.
