1) What are Bifocal and Varifocal/Progressive lenses?

Bifocal lenses have two sections, one that corrects distance vision and the other, which corrects near vision. Progressive lenses are the closest to how natural vision is before the onset of deterioration begins within the eye. They provide a progressive smooth transition in vision from distance through intermediate to near vision. This is because the power of lens gradually changes from top to bottom.

2) What is the difference between a bifocal and progressive lens?

A bifocal lens only allows the user to have two vision distances (near and far) while progressive lenses give all the range of vision from distance, intermediate and near in a smooth progression. Most people like the newer technology of the progressive because it allows for more natural vision and cosmetically they look nicer because there is no line. The upside to standard lined bifocals is that the peripheral vision is sometimes better.

3) How do you divide the distance and reading portion on Bifocal or Progressive lenses?

Normally, the division is 60% of the lens height for distance and 40% of the lens height for reading. But of course, the clients are very much welcome to inform us their preference in division. 4) I have difficulty seeing at night while driving. What do you recommend?

Many people have difficulty driving at night due to reduced visibility and annoying reflections. The problem is compounded during rains, which adds surface reflections.
