Water makes its entry in the construction which is used for making cement mortar for roofs, walls, P.C.C., R.C.C. at a very early stage. Needle vibrators are used to penetrate the mortar in the finest air gap which is already present in the mortar. After absorbing the heat through conduction from solid cement mortar the water evaporates and with the steam pressure cuts its way through the solid mortar leaving hair line pores which are known as hair line cracks. After experiencing vibrations these cracks become wide and are known as wide cracks, these cracks when receive rain water widen these cracks and cause rusting which weakens the steel present in the concrete slab used for strengthening, therefore the slab becomes weak and this causes cracks on the sides of the concrete slab connected with the side walls (parapet). In due time of course the water accumulation and absorption weakens the roof slabs which causes seepage followed by leakage.
