Veena Instrument is a stringed instrument and used mostly in carnatic Indian classical music. It is one of the oldest musical instrument and manufactured using quality & different wood. Found only in extreme south, Tavil Instrument is a barrel shaped percussion instrument, which is considered as an essential ingredient of traditional festivals and ceremonies. It possesses a shell of nearly spherical proportions and used in folk music & Carnatic music. Its is carved from a single block of wood and normally around two feet long & around half a foot wide. Thavil Percussion - South Indian Music Instruments
The Thavil is a large, heavy and very powerful double drum in southern India. It is traditionally used for accompanying the piercing Nageshwaram(Nathaswaram) at open-air temple festivals. The modern Thavil has a body made of Wahe wood that is surrounded by a steel ring. The two skins are separately fixed to this ring with steal tapes which are coated with plastic material. Both skins can be separately tuned. It is played on the left side with a round wooden stick and right side with the right hand fingers wearing specially made thimble type caps.
