CO2 has been used for many years in commercial pools as a substitute for liquid acid. CO2 lowers pH in a pool, just like liquid acid, but without the storage, handling and transportation concerns of liquid acid.

Carbon Dioxide is a naturally occurring gas that is present in the air we breathe and is used by many municipal water treatment plants for lowering pH. In water the CO2 forms a mild carbonic acid and it is impossible for a runaway CO2 feeder to lower your pool water PH below 6.8

CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) snow that is pressurized and when applied in thin layers kills bed bugs and other insects by a rapid freezing of the fluids in their cells causing instant death. When the CO2 snow hits surfaces at normal temperatures it evaporates and becomes CO2 gas. During this process energy is required and this heat energy is extracted from the immediate surroundings. If insects are part of the immediate surroundings the energy is taken from them and extreme cooling results, the water in their cells crystallizes to ice, killing the insects instantly. This crystallization occurs when the pest is cooled to -20ºC to -30ºC. The snow itself is -110º F and the target surface may hit temperatures as low as -20º to -40º F which is cold enough to kill nearly every pest.

The High pressure CO2 snows are optimized for reaching the pest, and easily penetrate bedding, box springs, the undersides of furniture, and cracks and crevices where pests like to hide and cling to it assuring an effective kill. Transportation of seafood raw material using dry ice & wet ice combination

seafood processing companies generally use wet ice to transport raw material from prawn farms / sea to the processing centers. In transportation wet ice and raw material is used in the ratio of 50 : 50. The wet ice is a dead weight, which adds additional weight to raw material.

Instead of using only wet ice, dry ice can be used in conjugate with wet ice.

Advantage of using dry ice & wet ice

instead of 24 kg of raw material, when dry ice is used, we can carry 34 kg of raw material.

with wet ice, a 11 tonne truck can carry 5. 5 tonne of raw material per trip and it requires 336 trips to bring in 1501 tonnes of raw material.

vis-a-vis, the same 11 tonne truck, using dry & wet ice combination, can carry 6. 4 tonne of raw material per trip and it requires only 239 trips.

hence, a company save 336 - 239 trips = 97 trips in a year.

assuming that per trip, atleast rs. 6010 (running expenses) + rs. 400 (incidental expenses) is spent, then the savings in 96 trips is equivalent to rs. 6410 x 96 trips = rs. 6,15,360.

it has been calculated that usage of wet + dry ice combination results in the saving of re. 0. 06 per kg. Hence for 1490 tonne, the saving is (rs. 65 / tonne x 1490 tonne =) rs. 96,850

Dry ice for transportation of frozen cargo
