A proprietorship firm, we “S.S. Industries, Gurgaon,” are among the leading manufacturers and suppliers of electrical laminations. Apart from this, we also offer clients transformer stampings and clumps. These are manufactured from M-47A grade CRGO & CRNO raw materials to ensure in them optimum performance and service life standards.

Established in the year 1975, at Gurgaon, Haryana, our business operations are being led by Mr. Sunil Aggarwal. Customization Facilities

We hold expertise in the manufacturing of transformer core laminations from cold rolled grain oriented (CRGO) steel in grades like M3, M4, M5, M6 as well as Hi-B, ZDKH, M0H, TCH-0, TCH-1 and others.

Meeting the lamination demands of power & distribution transformers as well as other electrical equipment, we hold expertise in offering it in customized finishes like:

  • Meeting the lamination demands from 10 KVA to 10000 KVA transformers

These can also be manufactured as per the design specifications provided by the customers including:

CRGO

A main part of electrical transformers and other electrical appliances/equipment, these core laminations are cut from special steel - cold rolled grain oriented electrical steel (CRGO).

A special quality of steel, CRGO has special grain surface & come in a thickness of 0.23 mm, 0.27 mm, 0.30 mm, 0.35 mm (M3, M4, M5 & M6). It’s quality is measured in terms of lower losses of electrical current, which flows in the core, which is measured in Watts per Kg.

Quality Standards

Our quality conscious production approach as well as strong hold over high precision and accuracy jobs like shearing, cutting and notching allow us to successfully deliver quality laminations and other associated end products.

Our quality monitoring team also helps us to maintain complete trace ability of the materials used, which also enable us in achieving high quality end results.

Some of the parameters we maintain during the production of transformer laminations include:

  • Thickness of sheet being handled & cut is 0.23 mm to 0.35 mm or 230 microns to 350 microns
  • Sheet are not bent, dented or damaged, which directly affects the core loss & magnetic property of resultant core
  • Dimensional accuracy in terms of length, breadth & angles are within tolerance
  • V- Notch in the yoke is precisely done for accommodating yokes without air gaps
  • Holes are accurately punched for ensuring adequate clearances of the bolts
  • Perfect slitting for avoiding camber & variation
  • Burrs are within the specified tolerance limits

Some of the quality testing equipment used by us includes:

  • Digital Iron Loss Testers
  • Epstein Testers
  • High quality measuring instruments to maintain dimensional accuracy at highest level

Infrastructure Facilities

We have with us modern manufacturing facilities as well as technological processes, which assist us in producing quality products at commercially viable prices.

The production expertise of our team also allows us to manufacture these in different grades (with different core losses & thicknesses).

  • Manual & power operated Shearing Machines
  • Notching Machines
  • Power Presses 10, 20 & 50 tons
  • Fully equipped tool room

Further the use of surface cum edge grinding machines ensures minimized formation of burrs and edges in the material. This eliminates the need of de-burring as well as creates least possible stress in grains of CRGO material, which improves the overall quality of material by lowering core losses.

Our better management of the manufacturing operations, maintaining reduction in wastage and improving overall efficiency of operations has also helped us to achieve production capacity of 5-6 tons.

Production Process

Sample Testing of the Raw Material:

Sample is randomly drawn from coil and Epstein Square test is conducted on the sample to match it with the test certificate provided by suppliers

Slitting:

Received in the form of coil, these are slit using quality cutters to control the burr level

Shearing:

Slit coil is sheared in treadle shearing machine. Utmost care is taken during grinding of blades in order to minimize burr level and ensure that it does not exceed more than than 10 microns.

V-Notching:

V-Notching in yoke plates of stacked lamination is carried out using power presses that feature superior quality dies that ensure zero burr level.

Stress Relieving Annealing:

As stress developed in the stacked laminations tend to increase losses & magnetize current of the core, it is relieved by subjecting laminations in stress relieving Annealing furnace.

Testing:

Random tests conducted on sample of CRGO laminations for measurement of:

  • Losses
  • Insulation resistance
  • Bend test
  • Burr level

Packing:

These laminations are packed using wooden pallets & are covered/ strapped by waterproof hessian cloth for avoiding damage to core edges.

These EI & U-type core lamination strips are manufactured from cold rolled grain oriented (CRGO) & cold rolled non-grain oriented (CRNO) materials of M-47A grade. It ensures in them optimum performance and service life standards.
