Di Methyl Formamide

We bring forth our clients a superior quality range of Di Methyl Formamide that is used in the manufacture of adhesives, synthetic leather, fibers and films. It is an organic compound with the chemical formula (CH3)2NC(O)H. It derives its name from the fact that it is a derivative of formamide, an amide of formic acid. Owing to its miscibility with water and the majority of organic liquids, it acts as a common solvent for various chemical reactions. When in pure form, dimethylformamide is odorless whereas technical grade or degraded dimethylformamide often possesses a fishy smell due to undesired presence of dimethylamine.

Uses:

 

  • It is used as a reagent in the Bouveault aldehyde synthesis and in the Vilsmeier-Haack reaction, another useful method of forming aldehydes

  • It is also a common catalyst used in the synthesis of acyl halides, in particular the synthesis of acyl chlorides from carboxylic acids using oxalyl or thionyl chloride

  • DMF penetrates most plastics and makes them swell. This property makes it very suitable for solid phase peptide synthesis. It also frequently occurs as a component of paint strippers for this purpose

  • DMF is very effective at separating and suspending carbon nanotubes and is recommended by the NIST for use in near infrared spectroscopy of such

  • DMF can be utilized as a standard in proton NMR allowing for a quantitative determination of an unknown chemical

  • DMF is used as a solvent to recover olefins such as 1,3-butadiene via extractive distillation

  • It is also used in the manufacturing of solvent dyes as an important raw material. It is consumed during reaction

  • Pure acetylene gas cannot be compressed and stored without the danger of explosion. Industrial acetylene gas is, therefore, dissolved in dimethylformamide and stored in metal cylinders or bottles. The casing is also filled with agamassan, which renders it safe to transport and use.

A byproduct in the acrylonitrile manufacturing process, it is used as a polar aprotic solvent in organic synthesis and in the purification of butadiene. It has a dipole moment of 3.92 D [citation needed] and thus dissolves a wide range of ionic and nonpolar compounds (e.g. Wohl-Ziegler reaction). N Butanol

We are engaged in manufacturing, supplying and importing an exceptional range of N Butanol. It is a primary alcohol with a 4-carbon structure and the molecular formula C4H9OH. Its isomers include isobutanol, 2-butanol, and tert-butanol. Butanol is one of the group of "fused alcohols" (from the German for "bad liquor"), which consist of more than two carbon atoms and have considerable solubility in water. It is widely used as an ingredient in perfumes and as a solvent for the extraction of essential oils. Additionally, it us used as an extractant in the manufacture of antibiotics, hormones, and vitamins. It also acts as an excellent solvent for paints, coatings, natural resins, gums, synthetic resins, dyes, alkaloids, and camphor. It is produced in small quantities in nearly all fermentations (see fusel oil), but species of Clostridium produce much higher yields of butanol, and research is currently underway to increase the ultimate yield of biobutanol from biomass.

 

Other miscellaneous applications of n-butanol are as follows:

 

  • A swelling agent in textiles

  • As a component of brake fluids

  • As a component of ore floation agents and of wood-treating systems

  • n-Butanol has been proposed as a substitute for diesel fuel and gasoline

 

The production or, in some cases, use of the following substances may also result in exposure to n-butanol: Artificial leather, butyl esters, rubber cement, dyes, fruit essences, lacquers, motion picture, and photographic films, raincoats, perfumes, pyroxylin plastics, rayon, safety glass, shellac varnish, and waterproofed cloth.
