The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) recently organised the 2nd India Steel Summit on Friday, 8th August 2008, at Hotel Shangri-La, New Delhi. Shyam Steel Industries Limited had continuously supported this effort, as one of the leading Indian Steel producers in the Eastern region. Based on this, our Chairman Mr. Shyam Sunder Beriwala, participated in the Summit on our Company’s behalf and also addressed the gathering at the venue. The interaction with the distinguished guests was extremely valuable and was extensively covered by the media.
A Special Seminar titled “Opportunities in the Downstream Sector in the Steel Industry” was organised by CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) on the 25th August 2008 at Hotel Taj Bengal, Kolkata. History
Shyam Steel Industries Limited made a humble beginning in 1953 with a small factory at Howrah district in West Bengal, one of the earliest pioneering efforts in the steel industry in the Eastern region.The Chairman of the company Mr. Shyam Sunder Beriwala, with his remarkable spirit to win, has led the company with great stride through though times, and brought it to its current position.
Today, apart from its three speciality rolling mills at Howrah, the company is proud to have two integrated steel plants at Durgapur and Barbil in Orissa state. A massive corporate office at Sector V, Salt Lake, Kolkata and an impressive line-up of 13 branches all over India are witness to the company’s rapid expansion over the recent years. Shyam Steel has also developed a nation wide distribution channel to market its products.
