Shear Connectors On Anchor Plates

  • Shear Connector Studs are designed to tie the concrete slab to the plates and to resist shear loadings between the concrete slab and steel beam in composite construction.
  • The Shear Stud is made of steel and it is delivered with a ceramic ferrule to ensure a good connection of the Stud with the plate.
  • The ferrules are made of clay and able to withstand heat shock as well as high temperatures without melting or breaking. These plates are pre-welded and are used in construction of power plants and other structures.

 

  • Note:Welding is not possible if the top flange of the plate is not free from paint, rust, mill scale, dirt, moisture and other foreign materials.

  • The Shear Studs transfer horizontal shear from slab to beam,causing two elements to act as a single unit. Composite construction design permits saving in steel tonnage of upto 20-25%. It reduces building height and saves on materials.
  • Through deck stud welding is especially used in commercial buildings and High Rise structures. Construction is faster as deck serves as a work platform for all trades.
  • Welding through metal deck is an application very much dependent on job site conditions.
  • Depending on metal deck thickness,amount of galvanizing etc. and other job conditions the welding and inspection should be done under qualified instructors. To avoid such discrepancies, we will consult and guide you accordingly using appropriate standards of Stud Welding

  • Shear Connector Studs are designed to tie the concrete slab to the steel beams and to resist shear loadings between the concrete slab and steel beam in composite construction. This enables us to load up to 1000 kg/m² instead of the usual load which is much less.
  • The Shear Stud is made of steel and it is delivered with a ceramic ferrule to ensure a good connection of the Stud with the beam.The ferrules are made of clay and able to withstand heat shock as well as high temperatures without melting or breaking.
