Brake motors are used for various applications where instantaneous stopping of the driven load is required. The operation of the brake is 'Fail Safe Type' i.e. normally on. The brake is applied when the power to the motor is cut off or power to the motor is switched off or if power failure occurs.
Brake motor is a combination of an AC induction motor and an EMCO electromagnetic AC or DC brake. The EM brake is mounted on the non driving end of the motor. A cooling fan is mounted after the brake which ensures good heat dissipation and cooling of the brake and motor as well.

Motors for constant torque application suitable for speed range of 1:10,1:5,1:2,etc can be provided. Depending upon the speed range , motors can be offered with forced cooling (IC 416). Forced cooling arrangement is available from 71 frame.the insulation is suitable for VFD’shaving a minimum rise of 0.5μs. a special insulation scheme is offered for lower rise times between 500v to 690v.
Shaft induced voltages occur due to the use of vfd.this causes flow of currents through the bearings which can lead to premature bearing failure, insulated bearings can be provided on request. We can provide encoder mounting on the non drive end shaft on request.
