About Us

We are the Ayyan group situated in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, India. Our group was established in 1923 to manufacture handmade Matches in India, with the Pioneering efforts of late Mr.P.Ayya Nadar.

Today, this group of companies, under the flagship enterprise "The South Indian Lucifrer Match Works" consists of 17 Match Manufacturing units employing over 5000 skilled rural labourers.

The group has a line up of Safety Matches in Cardboard, Veneers and Wax vestas. There is an uncompromising accent on quality, cost effectiveness and safety in all our manufacturing units. Over the years, the manufacturing process has been semi-mechanised to meet the ever-increasing market demand globally.

Currently we are exporting our Safety Matches to Greece, Portugal, Panama, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Peru, Costa Rica and El Salvador and we also cater to the local markets in India.

Guided by Vision and dynamic leadership, the Company continues to forge ahead by continuously upgrading manufacturing facilities and expanding product lines.

The group also contributes a substantial portion of its returns towards charity and the operational costs of two educational institutions, situated in Sivakasi, which provide quality education to the rural students.

Quality Policy / Processes

QUALITY:

All our 17 Manufacturing units are registered with the Bureau of Indian Standards and our products confirm to Bureau of Indian Standards IS2653.

All our products are designed to perform under conditions of high humidity and are moisture resistant.

A Centralized Quality Assurance cell which has a well equipped laboratory manned by qualified technical staff checks and approves the products on a continuous basis.

The following tests are done on a daily basis.

Match Damp Proofness test.
Match burning quality test.
Match Ignition, Impact & Load test
Count verification test
Match friction surface wearing strength test.
