KOPPMANN-HM -Tungsten Carbide Glass Cutting Wheels -
These products are made of a special type of high grade carbide alloy (tungsten carbide), make. WIDIA GmbH. 45 years of experience in manufacturing these wheels have led to the development of a high grade carbide alloy of unequalled durability and an excellent life expectancy. Constant improvements have made KOPPMANN-HM (tungsten carbide) glass cutting wheels best suitable for cutting any types of glass in regard to cutting capacities and qualities -
In several phases of operation, KOPPMANN-HM (tungsten carbide) glass cutting wheels are made of the raw carbide alloy material. All of our cutting wheels have polished surfaces and ground borings, which guarantee an optimal concentricity. -
For the use in machines we manufacture tungsten carbide glass cutting wheels with many different diameters, borings, thicknesses and cutting angles. Thus we can deliver a suitable cutting wheel for any type of cutting head or glass cutting machinery. Special sizes are not a problem either. -
Different types of cuts - e.g. straight cuts, shaped cuts, open cuts or cutting of thin or thick glasses - require different cutting angles and a different smoothness of the honed surface. -
These tables give standard figures in regard to cutting angle and glass thickness. If the glass to be cut is harder than float glass, the cutting angle should be more acute than the stated value. -
The smoothness of the honed surface is a major criterion for a perfect cut. Especially when making round or shaped cuts, it is important that the diameter of the wheel, the smoothness of the honed surface and the cutting angle are optimally adjusted to the thickness and hardness of the glass to be cut. For many cutting and breaking operations, cutting fluid is a good help to perform easy breaks and clean edges and therefore prevent "chipping". This applies especially to round or shape cutting, but in particular if open cut is demanded. -

Our long experience in the manufacture of glass cutting wheels, our close cooperation with customers and our continuous quality assurance during production guarantee the good quality of KOPPMANN-HM (tungsten carbide) glass cutting wheels. -
Our cutting wheels are made of a special kind of tungsten carbide, cobalt and additional carbides (standard material and material KX4).Additional to our standard material we also produce cutting wheels made of a special kind of high quality tungsten carbide = it is called material KX4 Cutting wheels made of material KX4 have a longer cutting life and therefore a higher price than cutting wheels made of standard material. We also produce our cutting wheels with fine and rough finish. - The fine finish is the standard finish for e.g. cutting float glass and for straight cuts.
- The rough finish is used for round and shaped cuts, for cutting coated glass like Low-E and if you need an open cut for cutting glass thickness of 2-6 mm in the field of the automotive. Wheels with a rough finish get better through the glass surface and therefore rough finish is also used for cutting glass thickness from 10 mm upwards and for cutting wheels with cutting angle from 155 degree upwards. For cutting glass tubes you also need a special cutting wheel with cutting angle of 80 degree and a rough finish
