Besteem Teeming Compound is an additive to be added into an mould in bottom-pouring ingot–making for improving the ingot skin. Generally, in bottom-pouring ingot making, several problems, such as inclusions of refractories, formation of solid shell and oxidation of molten steel surface, etc., do arise.

Besteem Teeming Compound is developed for solving these problems. The surface of molten steel is completely covered with Besteem (Teeming Compound) to form thin layer of molten slag and layer of powder, thereby the surface of molten steel is prevented from oxidation, the slag layer quickly melts these floating matters on the surface of molten steel such as deoxidized sub stance , refractory particles ,etc. to keep the surface always clean and the powdery layer  heat – insulates the surface of molten steel completely to keep the solid shell changeable in shape.
Therefore, when Besteem (Teeming Compound) is used in bottom-pouring ingot-making, surface defects, such as cracks, slag patches, blowhole, etc. are prevented, Since the quality of steel and yield is improved, it is indispensable to use an additive, Besteem (Teeming Compound) in bottom-pouring ingot-making.

Purpose:-


  • Heat-insulation of molten steel surface.
  • Prevention of the oxidation of molten steel surface.
  • Catching and melting non-metallic inclusion floating up.
  • Improvement of ingot skin.

How to use:-

Hang Besteem (Teeming Compound) in a paper packet inside the ingot mould before pouring in bottom-pouring ingot at a height of 2 inch above the bottom of the ingot mould.

Amount to be used:-


Besteem (Teeming Compound)  1.5–2 Kg. per ton of ingot weight so as to ensure complete coverage of the surface of steel meniscus.

Advantages in use:-

  • Since the inside of the ingot moulds is coated with slag–film, mould paint is unnecessary.
  • Life of ingot mould is prolonged.
  • Since ingot with beautiful skin can be obtained, scarfing ratio is reduced.
  • Slag film performs the role of a lubricant inside the ingot mould  & hence ingot is stripped easily from the mould.
  • As it has heat-insulating effect, molten steel rises up smoothly.
  • As slag catches non-metallic inclusions floating up to the surface of molten steel & melt them to keep the surface of molten steel clean, double skin is prevented.
  • As the surface of molten steel is prevented from oxidation, double skin,lapping and rippling is not caused.

Exothermic & Insulating Hot-Tops

This helps in liberating heat thus increasing the temperature enough to keep the steel in molten state for extended period of time. Technocrat is manufacturing ISO/EXO riser sleeves & Pads from m.e.f. 1.3 to 1.8. Some characteristics which make its sleeves so popular with foundry men all over the country are.

 

  • Range of M.E.F.  TechnoCast manufactures sleeves & Pads from 1.3 to 1.8 m.e.f. This helps foundries to reduce the size of sleeves and reduce on the cost of castings without compromising on quality.
  • Packing  Moisture proof and customized packing in corrugated boxes as per the size of the sleeves  
  • Any shape any size TechnoCast manufactures sleeves & Pads of any shape and any size depending on the needs of the customer.

    Industrial Coatings

    Techno Cast manufactures three types of coatings for steel castings:-

    1.Technocoat 60(Z)- Zircon base sand mould paint dilutable in water/alcohol in powder/paste/readymix form. It is used specifically in steel casting.

    2.Technocoat 90(G)- Graphite base sand mould paint disputable in water/alcohol in powder/Paste/readymix form. It is used specifically in C.I.casting.

    3.Technocoat 10(M)- Magnesite base sand mould paint disputable in water/alcohol in powder/paste/readymix form. It is used specifically in manganese steel castings.

    Features:-
    Good Miscibility:

    This property ensures that the Coatings are of homogenous quality ensuring minimum human effort for mixing and application of it. It also ensures that irrespective of the kind of application procedure a foundry man applies, the outcome will be an excellent finish to the casting.

    Good Coverage:


    This enables the foundry man to produce maximum number of castings with minimum quantity of coatings thus reducing the effective cost of castings.  

    High refractoriness:


    Coatings manufactured by Technocrat are high in their refractoriness quotient thus reducing the grinding losses and giving an excellent finish to the surface of the casting.

    Corefix:-

    Techno stick (corefix) is useful for joining cores inside the mould. It is in paste form & used as per the requirement.

    Exothermic Compound
    :-

    Techno Risex (Exothermic compound) is a metal recovery  type highly Exothermic powder for use in riser of casting  with no swelling .It burns quickly producing high heat to the molten steel when added.

    Anti Piping Compound (APC):
    -

    Techno Cast APC  is a swelling type exothermic powder with high insulating effect . Powder is added on top of the riser in case of steel casting & on top of the hot tops  in case of ingot casting to prevent piping.

    As soon as it comes in contact with molten steel it burns quickly to increase the heat & at the same time expands to provide heat insulation effects The rate of addition is such that the top surface is completely covered for about 1” thickness.

    Collapsible / Break Down Agent:-


    Techno collap is a powder added to sand for Co2 and self hardening process in order to make the sand mould and core break easily after casting.The rate of addition is 0.5 to 2 wt% of the molding sand.

    Laddle Covering Compound:-


    Techno insulex 200(L) is a insulating powder for ladle & tundish. The rate of addition is such that it completely covers the surface  of molten steel.
