Acetone is an organic compound that is colorless, mobile, flammable liquid by nature. Acetone is miscible with water and thus, serves as an important solvent for cleaning purposes in the laboratory. It is also used in the households as an active ingredient in nail polish remover, paint thinner and sanitary cleaner/nail polish remover base.
Benzene is a colorless, highly inflammable organic chemical compound that has a sweet smell and a high melting point. Being highly toxic it is a known carcinogen and exposure to it may cause leukemia. Benzene is a natural constituent of crude oil and may be synthesized from other compounds present in petroleum. It is an important industrial solvent and is a pioneer in the production of drugs, plastics, synthetic rubber and dyes.
Butyl acetate is a colorless, flammable, organic compound that is used as a solvent to produce lacquers and other products. It is used as a synthetic fruit flavoring in foods such as candy, ice-cream, cheeses and baked goods. Butyl acetate is found in many types of fruits where it imparts characteristic flavors with other chemicals. Apples are the flavored fruits by this chemical.
It is known as xylene or xylol and is mostly referred as a mixture of three aromatic hydrocarbon isomers. It is a clear, colorless, inflammable sweet-smelling liquid. Usually obtained from crude oil through the process of alkylation, like other solvents it is used as an inhalant drug for its intoxicating properties.
Application:-
Used as a solvent for printing, rubber and leather industries
p-Xylene is used as a feedstock in the production of terephthalic acid
Used as a cleaning agent for steel, silicon wafers and chips
It is a pesticide, a thinner for paint, in paints and varnishes
Used in small amounts in airplane fuel and gasoline
Ortho Zyline is an aromatic hydrocarbon generally extracted by distillation from a mixed xylene stream. It is mainly used to produce phthalic anhydride, an important intermediate that leads to various coatings and plastics.
Toulene is also known as methylbenzene and is a clear water-insoluble liquid having typical smell of paint thinners, redolent of the sweet smell of the related compound benzene. It is an aromatic hydrocarbon that is extensively used as a starting material for the manufacture of industrial chemicals, industrial feedstock and as a solvent. It is also used as an inhalant drug because of its intoxicating properties.
It comprises of 15-20 percent of coal-tar light oil and is a minor constituent of petroleum. Toluene is a close substitute for manufacturing benzene derivatives, caprolactum, saccharine, pharmaceuticals, dyes, perfumes, true tone colors and thinners.
