The Bleached Shellac is produced by dissolving seedlac in aqueous sodium carbonate solution at 90-100 degree Celsius. This solution is then treated with sodium hydrochloride, cooled and filtered. It is reclaimed from the filtered solution with sulphuric acid and the precipitated Bleached Shellac is then filtered and washed with water for removal of acid and dried.

Bleached shellac is processed and exported in following two grades:

• Waxy Bleached Shellac
• Dewaxed Bleached Shellac

Our organization has gained prominence in the industry for offering a high quality range of Hand Made Shellac. These are produced by manual operations using a long& narrow cloth bag. The shellac is put into the bag and its one end is held in front of the charcoal oven, while the other end attached to a windlass is gradually turned. The molten lac is scraped out and mixed thoroughly to ensure uniformity and then transferred to a block of molten lac on the surface of a smooth porcelain cylinder filled with hot water.

The workman manipulates the sheet in order to heat it uniformly in front of fire and then stretches it with his hands, legs and mouth. To produce a sheet of about 5'x4' with a varying thickness from 1/16" at edges to about 1/1000 of an inch in the center, it is pulled in all directions uniformly.

Heat Process:

Pure lac is procured by melting seedlac by steam heat and squeezing the soft molten lac through filter by means of hydraulic presses. The molten lac is then stretched with the use of rollers into long and continuous sheets. It is then broken into pieces to form small flakes.

Grades of heat process Shellac (Machine made):

• TOC Orange
• TOC Lemon 1
• TOC Standard 1
• TOC Black TN

Solvent Process:

Through the solvent process, the insoluble purities are separated by dissolving the lac in a suitable solvent, usually industry alcohol. This solution is then filtered using fine cloth and by boiling the solution the alcohol is recovered. The shellac procured is then stretched to the required thickness on a roller. Dewaxed or partly dewaxed shellac can be processed by this process and the wax content may be as low as 0.2%.

Grades of Dewaxed Shellac are as follows:

• Garnet
• Lemon
• Orange
• Blonde
• Super Blonde

We process Shellac Wax that is purified and formed into thin sheets, which is used for making varnish. Shellac Wax is a mixture of esters (approx. 60 %) & free alcohol (approx. 35 %) and also contains small amounts of hydrocarbons, penta- and hentriacontanes and approx. 1 % lactic acid. Wax is obtained as waste product during the manufacturing of solvent process of shellac.

Polishes consist of paraffin and montan wax, which give a shining surface if a small amount of Shellac Wax is added. Our range of Shellac Wax is known for its attributes like hard, brown finish and excellent shine-producing characteristics.
