Testing FacilitiesR & D TurboTech’s R&D has trained engineers with true end-to-end design and developmental capabilities. This division takes on product design and development projects in the aerospace and turbomachinery domains. Based on customer specifications, we conceptualize, design, prototype and qualify products (aerospace domain) to MIL-STD-810F and DO160D/ DO160E. TurboTech has DGAQA certification for design and supply of critical aircraft equipment for the DRDO.
CAPABILITIES
1. Clean Sheet Concept Design
TurboTech engineers design equipment to specifications from a “clean-sheet” of paper meeting performance and envelope requirements. We bring over 100 years of design and developmental experience to the table.
2. Detailed Design
TurboTech R&D has ANSYS for finite element analysis and CATIA V5 R16 for design and modeling requirements, AutoCAD is the preferred tool of choice for conceptual design at TurboTech R&D. 3D models are built during the detailed design and design refinement. In finite element analysis we have the capabilities to undertake steady state thermal, transient thermal and transient thermal-structural analyses, modal analyses and harmonic analyses.
3. Manufacturing
TurboTech R&D manufacturing team is experienced in all quality processes required for manufacturing aerospace components. Being a part of R&D this team has both manufacturing and jigs and fixture development experience. We also have experience in the fabrication and machining of high temperature alloys such as INCO738, MAR M247, Inconnel 718 and precipitation hardening steels such as 17-4PH, 15-5PH and 13-8PH.
4. Assembly and Testing
TurboTech R&D maintains a well equipped assembly and testing facility in Nelamangala outside Bangalore. All of our in-house turbomachinery developmental and qualification testing is carried out at this facility. We have excellent working relationships with other laboratories in Bangalore and elsewhere in India for environmental tests that are not taken up in-house.
5. Design & Development of test rigs
TurboTech R&D is associated with DRDO organizations for design and development of aerospace equipment. As part of the aerospace qualification requirements many test rigs have been designed and built in-house for qualification of specific equipment. This experience coupled with our knowledge of MIL-STD-810F and DO 160D places gives us the unique ability to design and develop test rigs for aerospace requirements.
Our turbomachinery design and development experience has endowed us with extensive knowledge to turbomachinery testing including control logic, data acquisition and instrumentation specifications and requirements. We have two gas turbine test rigs at our test facility in Nelamangala.
With this background we are in a position to develop test rigs to specifications.
6. Root Cause Analyses
TurboTech R&D’s design and developmental activities depend on both computer based simulation as well as developmental testing. At each stage in development we have a unique methodology to analyze Root Cause of failure and make necessary modifications to solve the problem. We are able to offer this as a service to other organizations that may need this expertise.
OUR PEOPLE
TurboTech R&D has team of 30 engineers supporting design and development, manufacturing, assembly and testing. Our team has overall experience of over 150 years in design and development of turbomachinery and aerospace equipment. Technical leadership is provided by a team of experts and accomplished by engineers with MS/ MTech and BE/ BTech from institutes in India and abroad.
