Our Auto guides are suitable for track control of all endless belts, paper machine wires, felts, rubber belts and chain belts in paper and board machines, tunnel dryers filters and conveyor belt installations etc. It can be installed any where because it is resistant to splash water, vapours and high temperatures. Auto guides are available to suit machine widths where the trim width is larger than 5 meters, we recommend our hydraulic guides.

Principle of operation
Auto Guides are designed and built as a servo system using compressed air as energy source. The palm senses deviation from set position and the servo valve attached to it sends compressed air to the required side of the cylinder to move the powerful piston. Piston shifts the roll to move the web/felt/wire back to original set position, when the palm also gets back to neutral position, stopping the flow of compressed air into the cylinder.

Construction:
Piston are of high grade steel hardened and ground and cylinder is honed and chromium plated. Seals are of high grade synthetic rubber obtained from reputed source. Guide weight and web force is taken up by hardened and ground roller guide-ways with antifriction bearings. Body of the guide is liberal dimensions, made from high grade cast iron. Servo valve is made up of Bronze and spool is of stainless steel. Pivot of the palm is of deep groove ball bearing and palms are of stainless steel.

Positioning Of Auto Guides:
  • Use rubber covered guide rolls wherever possible
  • Have a total of approximately 25 degree wrap, evenly divided on either side of the guide roll.
  • Space, the carrying rolls one -third to two -third of the roll length on either side of the guide roll. These rolls should also have ample wrap. Place the guide near the forming or loading area of the web.
  • If possible, do not locate the hand guide and the automatic guide on the same side of the machine.

Many older machines are working at / about a tension of 1.5KN/M (1.5kg/cm) and modern machines work around 5 KN/m (5Kg/cm). Even with small increase of felt tension steam consumption has come down from 40 tons/hr to 35 tons/hours.

  • Life: Modern synthetic felts shrink enormously when a sheet break takes place. When sheet breaks fabric temp goes up steeply and with manual tensioners (stretchers) stress inside the felt goes up so much that it is on the verge of tearing. In machines where sheet breakages are common, life of felt reduces to about 30% of machines where "automatic felt tension compensation" is available.

  • Man Power: Each time sheet breaks, there will be a scramble to shut the steam off (if operators are awake during small hours) and invariably it is not done
    effectively. Once the tension compensator is fitted operators are not required to monitor the tensions. Fabric changing becomes very easy by loosening the felt by "push button."

  • Simple device: Tension compensator is a simple device with a small Induction Motor fitted near the hand wheel. Whenever tension increases or decreases "limit-switches" fitted at pendulum Roll starts & stops the motor, maintaining the tension at the set value.

  • Pay back period: Saving in steam will itself allow you to recover the investment in a matter of few months. Increased felt life is also quite substantial, compared to investment. You also save something by way of reduced man -power to attend on to your felts.(tightening, changing etc).
