• Actual space between coils or windings are spaced 120 degrees
• Generate power through rotation along the magnetic field
• Power sent out on three lines
• They should have three coils or windings connected in the proper sequence to match with incoming power
• This transform the power company voltage to the required voltage and therefore maintain the proper phasing or polarity
