Petticoat is worn separately and it is not stitched with saree. This easy to wear, pre-stitched saree can be worn by any body without the bother of actually draping it. It comprises of pre-stitched pleats and the wearer just needs to wear it like a skirt and drape the loose end of the outfit over the shoulder. Now we take the material and add a pin there with your pleats. You need to take the pleats plus the petticoat and pin it up so that it stays tight. •Wearing saree in Basic Style: Tuck your saree seeing the length of how much length you want from the floor. The saree should never float on the floor, nor should it be very high. Now we will make the pallu. To make the pallu, take the saree right around, give a tuck there and start pleating your saree. The archetypical Dravidian sari is the “veshti-mundanai”, which is draped in two parts: The veshti covers the lower body, while the mundanai, or mundu, is an add-on to the veshti. The draping of the veshti is fairly simple as it draped like a towel around the waist and is usually 4 yards in length. This is then folded in half lengthwise. Traditional Patterns of Wearing a Saree.
The success of the Sari is attributed to its total simplicity, practical comfort, and sense of luxury a woman experiences when she wears one. A Saree properly draped transforms a woman to become graceful, stylish, elegant and sensuous. So heres’ a note on some basic steps about how to drape a Sari. Wearing a sari is an art which require practice. A perfectly draped sari makes personality but a clumsily draped sari can equally bring down the look of the Sari and spoils the whole appearance of the woman. So just make a note on some basic steps about how to drape a sari in different styles. Gujrati / North Indian Style : This style of sari draping is very similar to the nivi style with the only difference being that in this style, the “pallu” or the decorative end of the sari is draped over the right shoulder rather than the left shoulder. Also, in this style the pallu is draped from back to front and not like the nivi in which the pallu is draped front to back. Maharashtrian Style : This style of sari draping is very similar to the way the Maharashtrian dhoti is worn. This style of sari draping is common among the Brahmin women especially in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. This sari is draped in a way that the center of the sari is neatly placed at the back of the waist and the ends of the sari are tied securely in the front, and then the two ends are wrapped around the legs. The decorative ends are then draped over the shoulder and the upper body or torso. Ghagra style : To wear a ghagra, we start with the basic tuck from here. Take your odhani right behind, now start making pleats. Bring to your knee used and pin it up on your shoulders. Now take this right behind. Make a tuck and remove this from here. Now very tightly and bring it a move heavier look. You will take this dupatta from your behind and pin this in front like this. Bengali style : Take the saree and make a reverse pleat. Reverse pleat is a pleat where you can see your fall down. Now tuck this in, saree till here giving it a very nice neat effect. Now make your pleats equally. These pleats have to be equally and Bengalis usually they wear a bordered saree. So whenever you wearing a bordered saree just work it over the border, don’t take the material with it. Keep throwing the material back till you get this border straight. This has to be vertically going up and don’t worry about the materials. There will be a lot of material going back. Now that you have thrown the material back pin this portion from here and very neatly take out this and pin this side like this to get a nice effect over here like this. Now take this material from behind and like the Bengalis generally add the key ring to the end and throw it back. So if you feel like you can add if you don’t what you can do is just take this border and pin it up over here. And see how a Bengali brides look. Rajasthani style : Rajasthani style is generally known as wear saree with sedha palla. After you have done a basic tuck, you need to take the material and pleat the thing very neatly in equal folds. Bring it forward just right above your knee length and pin it there. Now take the material and leave it a little so that this fall like cowl at behind. Now pleat them and tuck it in here and then take all your pleats again right below your naval and tuck the entire material inside. Always finish you saree inside with your two fingers. Now take the material, the palla and pin it there, and you are with your seedha palla saree. |
