sulfate with the chemical formula BaSO4 is a white crystalline solid.
Its chemical property is solubility in concentrated sulfuric acid and
poor solubility in water and other traditional solvents. The mineral
barite is available in nature as a common ore of barium and is mainly
barium sulfate. The premium quality Barium Sulphate Precipitated (BLANC FIXE) array finds application as a part
of a catalytic mixture to selectively reduce (or hydrogenate) alkynes
to cis-alkenes (the mixture consists of palladium, a carbon
substrate, barium sulfate and quinoline). Accurately composite
inorganic chemical finds more application as following:
- As
a filler in plastics
- As
a component of oil well drilling fluid to increase the density
- Used
in Episal salt
- Used
in brake linings, anacoustic foams and powder coatings
- Used
in root canal filling
- Used
as a near-perfect diffuser to measure light sources in colorimeter
- Used
as a coating for certain photographic papers in photography
- Used
as a coating to the moulds used in metal casting in order to prevent
the molten metal from bonding with the mould
- Used
during the procedure of the soil pH test
In
soil pH test, barium sulfate is used to precipitate out any particles
(usually clay particles) which would otherwise turn into 'cloud'
solution which prevent one from seeing the color of the pH indicator
i.e. the result of the test.

ferrite, abbreviated BaFe, is the inorganic chemical compound with
the formula BaFe2O4. Chemically it is described as Ba2+(Fe3+)2(O2-)4.
The Fe3+ centers, with a high-spin d5 configuration, are
ferromagnetically coupled. In contrast to the usual spinel structure,
these materials feature hexagonally close-packed framework of oxides.
Furthermore some the oxygen centers are replaced by Ba2+ ions.
Formulas for these species include BaFe12O19, BaFe15O23, and
BaFe18O27.
Thus, BaFe12O19 is related to Fe12O20, with the empirical
formula Fe3O4, i.e. magnetite.Barium
ferrite is a component in magnetic stripe cards. It finds application
in subwoofer magnets to provide power. It is a robust ceramic that is
generally stable to moisture and corrosion-resistant.

| Calcium
stearate is commercially sold as 50% dispersion in water or as a
spray dried powder. The chemical is insoluble calcium salt of stearic
acid and is a non-toxic stabilizer. It is widely used as:
- A
flow agent in powders including some foods (such as Smarties),
- A
waterproofing agent for fabrics
- A
lubricant in pencils and crayons
- A
lubricant to provide good gloss, preventing dusting and fold
cracking in paper and paperboard making in paper industry
- A
tablet mold release, anti-tack agent and gelling agent in the
personnal care and pharmaceutical industry
In
addition, it acts as an acid scavenger, a lubricant and a release
agent in plastic industry. The chemical is used for efflorescence
control of cementious products used in the production of concrete
masonry units in concrete industry. Concrete masonry unit comprises
of paver (flooring), and block, as well as waterproofing. Calcium
stearate may be used in plastic colorant concentrates to improve
pigment wetting. It can accelerate fusion, improve flow and reduce
die swell in rigid PVC.
