Application

This is a pocket sized, direct reading Hardness Tester to determine the Shore-A hardness of rubber and other similar materials, such as soft PVC etc, This tester is designed keeping in view DIN53505 (German Std. ) & ASTM-D 1706-61 & D 676-59T (American Std)

Principle

The principle used is that of penetration of the indentor into the specimens. The indentor is in the form of precision machined truncated cone as per above standards.

The amount of the resistance to penetration is indicated on the dial of the Tester which has been graduated to read from 0 to 100 Shore-A numbers (0 being the lowest and 100 being the highest degree of hardness.)

Operation

Press the indentor against the specimen till the machined base of the tester is in contact with the surface of the tester is in contact with the surface of the specimen. In this position , Shore-A number can be directly read off from the scale after about 3 seconds

MODEL RT-10

The Ross Flexing Machine is an equipment used for compering the resistance of various rubber samples to repeated flxing. The machine allows the pierced area of the test specimen to bend freely over a rod through an angle of 90 degree.

 

Machine Description : The machine consists of holder arm which Is connected to the eccentric in such a way that the holder arm makes 90 degree angle from the horizontal position for every cycle of eccentric* The eccentric is attached to the motor which gives 100 - 5 revolutions per minute. One end of the test specimen is clamped firmly to a holder arm and the other end is placed between two rolls which permit a free bending movement of the specimens during each cycle. The upper rolls of the machine are adjustable by means of wing nut above and below the ton plate lo Hie

machine.

 

The apparatus test 12 samples at a time. The samples to ho tested should be 2.5 cm wide and approximately 15 cm long. These samples are mounted on the sample holder plate, and two samples of the same material, making a pair of test pieces, are held in place in adjacent recesses by means of the flat plate and wing nut. The end of the sample extends through rolls opposite the same holder plate The upper rolls are simply intended lo act as guide tor the samples*

This tester is used to find the Resilience property of Rubber and similar materials.

RESILIENCE PROPERTY

Resilience of rubber is defined by the American Society for Testing of Materials (A.S.T.M.) as the energy returned by rubber or similar materials when it is suddenly released form a state of strain or deformation The energy returned. Expressed as percentage of original potential energy. Is a measure of resilience.

 

OPERATION

It is portable end compact for on-the-spot in the shop and is rubust in design to give a long life if normal care is taken. Specimen is to be placed on the table and the hammer released by the touch of a finger on a release lever. The plunger falis down by gravity and after hitting the specimen, rebounds back The height of the rebound measured on the scale is the measure of resilience of rubber. A limit stop is provided to assist, taking the rebound reading.

UTLITY

it is used for developing Rubber Rollers for Typewriters. Printing Presses, etc, and for Tyre manufacturing industry, Rubber tiles and allied industries.
