clamping system: most of the spindles with automatic tool change are supplied with ott clamping systems. With high hydraulic pressures, the clamping / unclamping time is possible with 0. 2 seconds and lesser.
position sensors: spindles with automatic tool change are provided with sensors for monitoring tool change. Sensors are provided for tool clamped, tool unclamped and clamped without tool.
encoders: spindles with automatic tool change are equipped with encoder for closed loop control.
sealing: provision for pressurized air is provided to prevent ingress of contamination into the bearing system. Gmn has also patented a “fluid ring” seal which can be incorporated into most of the spindle designs and can operate in heavy external coolants and dust conditions. There is no speed limit and requires no air.
