Zinc oxide is an inorganic compound with the formula ZnO. It usually appears as a white powder, nearly insoluble in water. Magnesium Stearate is a magnesium salt of Stearic acid. Since Stearic acid is a mixture of chiefly Stearic acid and palmatic acid, the Magnesium Stearate is chiefly mixture of Magnesium Stearate as well as Magnesium palmitate. It is fine, white, impalpable unctuous power, tasteless and odourless or with a faint odour of Stearic acid. 

This stearate is highly insoluble in water and is pure white in color. For decomposing into varied stearic acid and calcium salts, this stearate is mixed with hot mineral acids. Major application of this stearate includes lubricants, slipping agents, heat-stabilizers, mold releasing agents and accelerators.
