About UsWe The People is a not-for-profit social enterprise established in 2005 provides institutional, financial and business development services and integrates socio-economic objectives with innovative business propositions and revenue flow mechanisms to promote equitable and inclusive economic growth for sustainable development.
We The People has so far reached a turnover of Rs.15 million. In December 2006, We The People has launched its micro-finance operations. We are working with over 1000 households in the states of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Orissa. As of 30 November 2008, we have provided livelihood and micro-enterprise loans amounting Rs.4.5 million to 750 poor women and under-privileged youths through
People Groups for varied income-generating activities that includes agriculture and livestock; trade comprises of vegetable vending to selling readymade garments; service including mobile repairs to beauty parlours; production and manufacturing includes pottery, steel and wooden items. By 2012, we have envisaged to reach 500,000 clients. |

Events ParticipationBuyer-Seller Meet with Pantaloon Retail for Business Tie-up at Varanasi Handloom Cluster Date: 17 November 2006 Venue: Hotel India, Varanasi Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India in partnerships with We The People organised Buyer-Seller Meet with Pantaloon Retail for Varanasi Handloom Cluster on 17 November 2006 at Hotel India, Varanasi. 12 Weavers’ co-operative societies participated in the Buyer-Seller Meet who displayed a wide range of handloom products. Mr. Ashish Malviya, Manager Sourcing, Pantaloon visited the stalls with great interest and also appreciated the products displayed by the weavers societies. He also shortlisted a few items from the displayed products. On the next day he had also visited the cooperative societies to identify more handloom products. As an outcome of this event, 6 of the cooperative societies have got an initial purchase order of Rs.500,000/- as a pilot project. It was further assured by Mr. Malviya that if the weavers able to maintain the quality and timely delivery of products, many more orders will be placed with these societies. The Meet also helped the cooperative societies to gain confidence and build a long term business relationship with Pantaloon.
