Addrill PSS is used as Shale Inhibitor in drilling operations for mineral exploration or oil field drilling. It stabilizes swelling of clay in acidification, compressing and water injection. It adsorbs on borehole wall and makes removal of cutting easy comparatively. It also improves the stability of salt and clay formations as it also adsorbs on borehole walls.
Addrill PSS should be added in fresh water to get a highly viscous drilling fluid. The marsh funnel viscosity for clay or shale formation should be ≥ 50 seconds per quart and ≥ 60 seconds per quart for sandstone or unconsolidated sand.
Chemical composition: Copolymer
Appearance: Granular powder
pH (0.5% soln. in distt. water): 3.0 ± 1.0
Bulk gravity: Not more than 1
Solubility: Soluble up to 20 gm per liter giving viscous solution.
Loss on drying: Not more than 10 %.
Characteristics and benefits:
Addrill PSS stabilizes saline and clayey formations
Reduces drill pipe torque and pumping pressure
Mixes conveniently with stirring in water
Better removal of cuttings from borehole
Better shell stabilization prevents water loss through cracks and fissures
Add 1.0 to 1.5 kg of Addrill PA per 1000 liter of water under continuous stirring or alternatively, it may be added by slowly sprinkling the product in the water stream of recirculating pump into the pit.
After complete addition of the product and achievement of required Marsh funnel viscosity (40 to 60 sec.), the fluid is ready for use
Packing: 50kg HDPE.
