Gloves cut resistance testing machine, to determine material cut-resistance property, specimens are cut by a counter-rotating circular blade, which moves with an alternating motion under a specified load, such as 5N.
The test uses a counter-rotating circular blade which moves with a to-and-fro movement across the specimen under a specified load. Cut-through is detected when electrical contact is made between the blade and an electrically conductive layer under the specimen. The number of strokes completed by the blade is recorded. To take the sharpness of the blade into account, a standard canvas control material is used both before and after the test.
Blades lose their sharpness in use and must be replaced when below the lower specified tolerance level. The EN 388 test method sets out the detail of the specimen preparation, the number of specimens, the number of individual cuts to be made and the determination of results. Once again, the method defines performance from ‘Level 1’ (the lowest) to ‘Level 5’ (the highest).

- Oxygen Index Apparatus consist of a test chimney made of borosilicate glass suppurated by the metallic base and hook with the help of the metallic pillar. The mixture of nitrogen and oxygen is released from the bottom of tube. The tube is filled with glass beads for mixing and evenly distributing the gas mixture. The specimen holder, which holds the test specimen, made of U shape and fixed at the center of the chimney. - Mild Steel Flexo Meter is built on a rigid metallic base plate. The test specimen is held between a pair of stationary and oscillating grips. The grips are specially designed to enable quick fixing and removal of test specimen and are shaped to meet the specification.
- The motion of the oscillating grips is given through a link mechanism, which oscillates the shaft carrying the grips. All the pivot points of the apparatus have ball bearing to ensure the long life and smooth operation.
- The driving force to the link mechanism is given through a ¼ hp single-phase motor and two sets of V-pulleys. A six digit even electronic counter with key reset and backup memory is provided to count the total number of flexing cycles undergone by the test specimens.
- The apparatus is finished in bright chrome/ zinc plating and NC based painting to give it a corrosion resistance finish.

Use the complete item of footwear as the test piece. If the footwear has been supplied with a removable insock, carry out the test with it in place. Condition it for 7 d at (20±2) o C and (65±5)% RH. Fix the thermocouple to the insole in the centre of the joint area and place the steel balls inside the footwear. If the upper is not high enough to accommodate the balls, increase its height with a collar.
