Small scale businesses play a vital role in improving the economy of any country. To encourage new and existing business, the government of India has launched many schemes to help small and medium scale businesses to sustain and grow. To avail all these beneficial schemes, you need to get your MSME registration done. MSME registration is also known as Udyog Aadhaar or SSI registration.

Benefits of MSME Registration

The following are the major benefits given to registered MSMEs under the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act:

  • You can get collateral-free loans from banks under the credit guarantee fund scheme for micro and small enterprises (CGS)
  • Some items have been earmarked to be manufactured only by small scale enterprises
  • Once you get the MSME certificate for your microenterprise, it gets much easier to get licenses, registrations, and approvals for the same. Being able to show your MSME certificate while making these applications will speed up the process
  • You get special consideration for participating in international trade fairs, exhibitions, and buyer-seller meets. You can also hold international seminars and conferences which are in the interest of MSME sector
  • When you have MSME registration, you get many things done at a subsidised price: barcode registration, NSIC performance and credit ratings, industrial promotion subsidy (IPS) subsidy, ISO certification, electricity bill, and patent registration
  • The interest rate charged by banks for MSME registered enterprises is lower than the normal interest rate
  • To promote technological growth among the micro industries CLCSS scheme was introduced that provides 15% capital subsidy up to 15 lakhs for the purchase of plant and machinery
  • While applying for a government tender, the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises gives the following benefits to a microenterprise:
    • Tender sets can be issued free of cost
    • They are exempted from paying earnest money
    • Security deposit is waived up to a certain monetary limit.

There are many other benefits under the Act and benefits are introduced through annual budgets as well.

Types of MSME Registrations

Provisional MSME Registration

This is given for entities which are yet to begin functioning. With provisional registration the MSME can:

  • Obtain facilities for accommodation, land, etc.
  • Obtain important approvals and NOCs
  • Obtain clearances from regulatory bodies such as pollution control board and labour regulations
  • Obtain term loans and working capital from financial institutions and banks under priority sector lending.

A PRC (provisional registration certificate) is allotted to new enterprises without any field enquiry and is valid for 5 years.

Permanent MSME Registration

It is given to industrial units that are already functioning. All the benefits available to MSMEs can be availed by them.

The following conditions have to be met for getting a permanent registration:

  • The unit has obtained statutory and administrative clearances as required
  • The unit does not violate any regulation or restriction
  • The value of plant and machinery in the unit does not exceed the prescribed limits
  • There should be proof the enterprise is not owned, a subsidiary of or controlled by another industry.
Documents Required for SSI / MSME Registration
  • Applicant’s Aadhaar card
  • Applicant’s PAN
  • Company PAN (not applicable in case of a proprietorship firm)

  • A copy of the passport or Aadhaar card or Voter’s ID of the individual.
  • A copy of a cancelled cheque of the current bank account of the firm or company or proprietor.
  • A copy of the premise’s electricity bill or rent agreement.

The following are the benefits of registering for Import Export Code:

 

  • Business expansion: Registering for Import Export Code will help you in expanding your business and reaching out to a larger market on a global scale, thereby helping your business to grow by leaps and bounds.
  • No return filing: Registering for Import Export Code will mean that you need not file any returns. Once the code has been allotted to you, you will not be required to follow some kind of process to ensure that its validity is sustained. Even with regard to export transactions, you will not be required to file your returns with the Director General of Foreign Trade.
  • No requirement for renewal: The validity of an Import Export Code lasts until the entity exists. As such, those who hold this code will not have to ever worry about renewing it.
  • Simple processing: Obtaining an Import Export Code from the Director General of Foreign Trade is fairly simple. Applications are usually processed within 10 to 15 days once submitted.

RNI Registration is the authorization to publish newspapers of publication in India. Provided by the Registrar of Newspaper in India, it’s the part of the Press and Books Registration Act 1867. So, if you want to establish your newspaper or publication, you’re required to obtain RNI certificate to legally start the process.

What’s the need for RNI?

If it’s one thing that you can count on in the morning, it’s the doorbell ringing. You step out of your home’s door and see the sunlight above, and today’s paper below. Your heart welcomes today’s news and you get on with your day informed and reliable. But, what if you become the reason of giving other publications or newspapers? What if, there exist a way to legally empower yourself to start your own publication?  

In India, it’s the Press and Books Registration Act 1867 that oversees the introduction and publication of a new newspaper, magazine or a periodical. An ancient act, it established a regulatory body called Registrar of Newspapers in India of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It’s only after this body issues the RNI newspaper registration or RNI magazine registration that newspapers, periodicals and magazines get the right to be published.

The job of the RNI is to:

  1. Compiling and maintain the Register of newspapers that are being published.
  2. Issue the RNI certificate to the newspapers so that they can be published.
  3. Verifying the claims of circulations and watching over the contents that are published.

While the requirement was only mandatory for newspapers, due to digitization and present of news on digital media, things have changed. As per the new rules, there is no RNI registration for online news portals.

Eligibility Criteria for RNI new Registration in India

The process of RNI eFiling gov registration is important for the following entities:

  1. Those who want to publish newspapers: Those in need of publishing their own newspaper, need to fill the RNI newspaper registration form
  2. Those who want to publish magazines: IF you want to publish periodical magazines. you need to obtain RNI registration for magazine.
Documents Required for RNI Registration in India

The documents required for RNI registration for Title (Level 1) registration are as follows:

  1. Your ID proof
  2. Your address proof
  3. No objection Certificate if the publication is foreign
  4. Copy of a previous title, if any.
  5. A passport sized Photo.
