Abhyangam is performed over a specially designed wooden table (Droni) by trained masseurs. The sesame oil processed with various herbs is selected based on persons doshic type. An Ayurvedic physician can access this and decide the appropriate oils and exact way of massage. The massage begins after offering prayers. A lukewarm oil is applied followed by a body massage in 7 different postures.

Shirodhara is the process in which medicated oil, milk, buttermilk is poured in a continuous stream on the forehead in a specific manner. Two therapists perform this treatment.

The phrase Greeva Basti  is  from Sanskrit. The word Greeva refers to neck and Basti stands for container or  retaining something inside. It is an Ayurvedic neck care and basically a hot oil therapy. Greeva Basti  is bathing the neck region with medicated oil or freshly prepared herbal decoction. The procedure does  oleation and sudation around the neck region  simultaneously. Due to present day lifestyle which involves continued and glued sitting position and lack of body movements the problems of the spine, muscles and skeletal tissues of neck and shoulder arise. Greeva Basti addresses these issues effectively. 

The knee joint is called Janu Sandhi in Sanskrit; hence the name Janu Basti  is given to the proceduredone on knee joints. In this the knee joint is bathed with warm medicated oil or freshly prepared herbal decoction. Depending on the condition it can be practiced over both the knee joints or on one knee joint. Knee joints are  considered as sandhi Marma in Ayurveda (joint type of vital areas) which measure about three fingers (three anguli pramana).So the janu vasti is specialized knee therapy or massage which rejuvenate the janu marma. 

Literally,  rasayana means the augmentation of rasa, the vital fluid produced by the digestion of food. The aim of rasayana is not only to improve the quality of rasa ; but to provide the optimum quality to all the body tissues.It is the rasa flowing in the body which sustains life.  Rasayana in Ayurveda is the method of treatment through which therasa is maintained in the body. This is a specialized branch of clinical medicine meant for preventing the effect of ageing and to improve memory, intelligence complexion, sensory and motor functions. Numerous rasayana medicines are reported for possessing diversified actions like immuno-enhancement, free radical scavenging, adaptogenic or antistress and nutritive effect. 

The phrase Akshitarpana ( also called Netrabasti)  is from Sanskrit where Akshi refers to eyes(Netra=eyes) and tarpana stands for nourishment (basti= retaining something inside). This procedure is popularly called as kriyakalpa for eye diseases  in Ayurveda.  Kriyakalpa literally means treatment. Akshitarpana is an eye care treatment and rejuvenation program in Ayurveda. This is ideally prescribed after a course of a body detox program preferably,  Virechana (therapeutic purgation) and a course of  Nasyam (nasal  instillation of medicated drops).

A migraine is a terrible headache that tends to recur and is often accompanied by a feeling of nausea. The pain is usually felt on one side of the head.
