These chargers are fabricated with power SCRs/ Diodes in full wave full controlled Bridge configuration. The FCBC charger fulfill the need of load and float charging currents, for these crust is set in AUTO mode. There are two modes of operation provided viz:

This system consist of two float cum boost chargers. Each charger is built with power SCRs/Diodes in full wave full controlled Bridge configuration. The FCBC chargers meet the requirement of the load and boost charging currents. FCBC charger must be set in AUTO mode. After setting in AUTO mode the charger is firstly set in BOOST mode, after completion of this mode it is set to FLOAT mode for supplying the current, then another charger is set to BOOST mode after completion of its BOOST mode it is automatically set to FLOAT mode for supplying the load. This way both the chargers are ready to supply current to load. Provision for the selection of discharging period and selection days between two discharging is also provided. Tap cell is connected to the load through Tap cell diode. The maximum voltage available at load terminal is equal to float voltage.
Battery charging should comprise of the float charger and boost charger. Float charger has only constant voltage mode. It should be capable of supplying trickle charging current to battery and the station load. Boost charger has two modes of operation, constant voltage mode and constant current mode. Constant current mode is used to boost charge the battery.
When AC power is restored, the battery needs to be charged. For charging the battery or when giving equalizing charge to the battery, boost charger is used in its constant current mode. During boost charging, the battery tap which is connected to the load through blocking diodes maintains DC continuity on load; float charger is also kept ON. Float charger also supplies the station load.
Float Cum Boost Charger in Auto Mode:
The charger is fed with 3-phase AC supply and gives a DC stabilized output current at rated full load current. As per the setting, as soon as the charger gets completely boosted it is set to float mode for supplying the load. If another charger is in boost mode then after completion of its boost mode it is again set to float for supplying the load. Now both the chargers are in float mode for supplying the load.
