ASSAB 17 is well known throughout the world for its excellent cutting properties, wear resistance, toughness and heat resistance. It is made of high-cobalt-alloyed high-speed steel. The hardness has been carefully adjusted to 67 - 69 Rockwell C, in order to give the shape and size of each ASSAB 17 tool bit, optimal properties for its field of applications.
