Monolithic multilayer actuators function is based on the piezoelectric effect. A piezoceramic material expands in the direction of the electrical field when a voltage is applied to it. The field strengths required to produce this phenomenon are approx. 2000 V/mm. Our actuators are produced using a specially developed stacking and sintering technology from layers of ceramic material about 0.1 mm thick. Therefore, a fairly low voltage can achieve maximum displacement.

ceramtec's fully copper-plated (approx. 25 µm) ceramic cores are suitable for very small components exceeding the feasibility limits of wire-winding. The inductor is produced by means of a special laser system. The available range includes type 0402, 0603, 0805 cores (h-shaped).

Advanced ceramics, which ensure a perfect fit for sheet metal and nuts and are subjected to temperatures of up to 800 °c, have long replaced metal in the production of welding pins. Metal cannot compete with ceramics with regard to insulating properties, resistance to temperature change, and minimal wear and tear due to the high degree of hardness and durability. Yet another advantage of ceramics is their smooth polished surface, which prevents welding spatter from adhering.
however, service life does face limitations when it comes to welding pins made of commonly used zirconium oxide ceramics. Over time, this material is likewise unable to stand up to the 30 to 40 kiloamperes that flow through the copper and the required working temperature of 800 °c, and thus suffers from wear.

Sl200b is a 100 bar gas-pressure sintered silicon nitride (si3n4) with impressive properties. And it boasts decisive advantages compared to zirconium oxide or even metal: extreme hardness and flexural strength, a high level of thermal shock resistance, electrical insulation, temperature resistance, and high tensile and compressive strength make sl200b silicon nitride ceramics a material that withstands the working conditions of projection welding and ensures a significantly longer service life. For comparison: while commonly used ceramic welding pins exhibit service lives 40 times that of metal, the service life of our sl200b silicon nitride ceramics is an additional five times greater than that of centering pins made from zirconium oxide.
Ceramic balls and mill linings are suitable for those applications in which a high efficiency of milling is required, as well as a low abrasion of the grinding media. In a lot of processes iron-free grinding by using ceramics is a very important necessity. This avoids unwanted impurities within the material to be ground. Ceramic grinding media are also used for applications in which mixing and dispersing effects are dominant.

Long term secure fixation of the cup insert in the metal acetabular shell is achieved by means of the CeraLock® fixation concept. Ceramic gas nozzles made of silicon nitride, like the ones offered by CeramTec, are far less susceptible than steel nozzles to the high stress levels placed on them during the welding process. This is because the surface of the ceramic material prevents welding drops from adhering to it and reduces slag formation. This extends service life and increases precision in welding In order to obtain a perfect weld seam during MIG/MAG welding, the flow of gas must be even and uniform. To achieve an even flow of gas from the nozzle, it is imperative that the nozzle opening on the robot arm remain clean at all times.

The number of knee joint replacement operations done each year is continually increasing. The current worldwide estimate is roughly half a million. extreme conditions require special materials. Traditional materials simply cannot cope with aggressive molten metals, maximum temperatures of 1000 °c and, at the same time, temperature differences of several hundred degrees. The ceramic material aluminium titanate (ati) cannot be harmed under these conditions. Alutit, the aluminium titanate produced by ceramtec, contributes to ensure process management and to maximise productivity.
alutit is not wetted by liquid aluminium. It is also well known for its excellent thermal-shock resistance. Therefore it is very useful in aluminium foundries. Its low thermal conductivity helps to save energy and due to its good chemical and abrasive resistance, it guarantees molten masses with a high degree of purity.

pipes are used in a variety of applications, for instance in heating installations or as pipelines. No matter what field they are manufactured for: welding rollers ensure safe and precise longitudinal weld seams. Ceramtec ag makes these along with other products from technical ceramics that aid in the welding process. The material is robust, making it resistant to wear and providing a long service life. From flat metal belts to pipes: the metal sheet is fed in through welding rollers to ensure that the mold fits perfectly and the longitudinal seam is cleanly welded. This is precisely where extreme precision is required, where the edges of the metal are positioned at exact intervals. However, the rollers are also subjected to heavy loads here, which can lead to wear.
Stamped substrates – made in cost-effective high-volume production to either standard formats or customers' specifications – are characterized by their two-dimensional geometries and structures involving sophisticated cut-outs. Single and multiple unit techniques are applicable.
