Electrical properties of insulating systems change due to age and continuous electrical stress. By
measuring electrical properties such as Capacitance and Tan d regularly it is possible to ensure
the operational reliability of H.V. insulating systems and to avoid costly breakdowns. This is
particularly important for high voltage bushings, power transformers, generators, power
capacitors, H.T. cables etc.
Sci-tech Manual Capacitance and Tan Delta Test set comprises of C and Tan d Bridge
Model MLS-11D, High Voltage Power Supply Model HLS-12 with built in standard capacitor,
and set of cables. The compact design of the Bridge uses the principle of three winding differential
transformer on a high permeability u metal core. The Bridge is contained in a sturdy metallic
housing with u metal lining which shields it from external electromagnetic & electrostatic
influences. Built in battery powered Null indicator makes the Bridge suitable for operation in
workshop, factories, High Voltage sub-stations, Switch Yards etc.
The High Voltage Power Supply model HLS-12 is provided with built in SF6 gas filled standard
capacitor. It is suitable for both grounded as well as ungrounded objects. Capacitance & Tan d
are measured directly, no further calculations are required

Used in modern laboratories engaged in research, design and development of electronic circuits, passive wave filters networks, equalizers, turned circuits, oscillators, frequency analyzer, etc., in audio and low radio frequency regions, as a temporary substitution for finding optimum value of inductance. Accuracy is 2% and Q between 25 to 150.

Applications :
General purpose precision laboratory instrument designed for accurate calibration of instruments, such as multimeters, bridge and experimental determination of circuit constants by mere substitution. One percent precision
high stability cracked-carbon resistors of 3 watt rating each are used. Wire wound resistor should not be used in experimental units working above 10KHz because of their high self-capacitance & self-inductance.

Description :
Special switches are used offering minimum self-inductance and self-capacitance. Resistance values are read directly by knob indicators.Decade resistance boxes cover the range of 0.1 Ohm to 100 Mega Ohm. in step of 0.1Ohm.

    Resistors
Decade resistor boxes are made of high quality Metal Oxide Resistors. These Resistors are tested and approved by LCSO, ERTL and CACT.

    Switches

UL approved Professional grade Rotary Switches of wiping & self cleaning contacts in Copper alloy heavily silver plated/silver alloy with excellent dielectric material. These switches are designed as per military specifications for low contact Resistance and high insulation. These switches are having a life span of not less than 20000 cycles on full load.

    Construction
Decade Resistance Boxes enclosed in metal cabinet with multi-colored polycarbonate membrane panel with Earth terminal and out-put terminal posts. Switches & Resistances are directly mounted to the PCB completely isolated from the cabinet. Single row assembly allows direct read out from the position of knobs. Specially made quality hardware components provide easy operation and an
elegant look. Highly professional testing and measuring instruments are used to calibrate the Decade
boxes.
