Indian Academy

For many of our pupils the experience begins in a nursery environment designed to nurture happy children supported by caring, committed staff. The partnership with parents is considered particularly vital in ensuring the development of enthusiastic and confident children who are looking forward to starting school. The Indian Academy has two separate nurseries to cater for the changing needs of very young and pre-school children, both of which take boys as well as girls. Each child’s needs are at the very centre of our aims and development priorities as a school.

School welcomes children aged from 2-3 years old. The girls and boys are introduced to experiences in play and discovery under the sympathetic guidance of the teaching staff. There is a secure garden for sunny days and plenty of space for indoor activities. We aim to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment, allowing each child to feel happy and secure, gaining in confidence and independence. We also nurture each child's individual needs so she or he can achieve their potential by learning through play.

In junior school we nurture the talent of the child by interactive, practical and observational learning. Students from 6 to 10 years come under junior school. We keep the limited number of students in classes in the junior school where they rarely go above 25. This enables our class teachers to devote individual attention to each child and foster a purposeful work ethic in a cheerful environment. The friendly focused atmosphere nurtures this high level of academic attainment by adopting broad and balanced curriculum. This is then enhanced substantially by providing:

• Trained teacher input in the teaching of Art and Craft, Music and PE.
• There are many visits, excursions and presentation by outside speakers.
• The support of a fully qualified librarian and a well resourced library to encourage further reading and the use of multimedia resource.
• The services of specialist support for learning teachers as required.
• Subject like Science, Maths and Geography are taught by models and using multimedia.

Pupils in the junior school are also encouraged to take pride not only in their academic achievements but also in their many other kills. They participate in a wide range of extra curricular activities which develop:

Many children are encouraged to take up a musical instrument and every one sings in the junior school choir. Sports are also very popular here. Students can play athletics. Cricket, Football and Rugby.

Assembly is very helpful in building confidence in the students. They not only sing there but also present various things like thoughts, news. GK Questions. Moral story and special knowledge.

Our senior school is divided into two, upper level I, and upper level II. In upper level I students are of 11 to 13 age group. The senior school has its own curriculum which fulfills the CBSC norms. The medium of instruction is English.

In upper level II, comes the students of 14 to 15 age group. The curriculum is according to CBSE. In the Indian Academy the broad based curriculum anticipates the increasing range of opportunities. Learning through educational excursion, exhibition, environmental workshops and audio-video aids forms an important part of the educational process.
Senior School Facilities

The senior school is well resourceful and the facilities for pupils are being updated and improved annually. In the last few months we have extended our science laboratories, improved and extended the music practice room, developed the sports facility, art proposed to be well established.
The Houses

All pupils are allocated to one of the four houses during their time at the Indian Academy and providing an opportunity for pupils for all ages to come together:

•     Subhash House
•     Vivekananda House
•     Raman House
•     Tagore House

Many competitions are organized like elocution. Painting. Singing, Dancing, Dramas etc. They help to build the competitive skills in the school children.

The nursery nurtures girls and boys aged 3 to 5 years in their two pre-school years in a spacious, secure and well equipped environment where each individual is encouraged to grow and develop a positive self-image.

In the Ante-Pre-School (3 to 4 years), the children’s learning is motivated and extended by providing appropriately stimulating and challenging play activities. In the Pre-School (4 to 5 years) the children are provided with a lively and more structured preparation for entering the junior School the following year. The curriculum provides ample opportunities for intellectual growth, spontaneous and structured language development, the enjoyment of the expressive arts and physical education, and personal and social development in all its forms.
