It's primarily used for urinary tract infections (UTIs), otitis media (middle ear infections), and Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP). It can also be used for traveler's diarrhea, shigellosis, and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. Additionally, it's used for the treatment and prevention of toxoplasmosis and may be used in some cases for infections caused by protozoa.
