The TQM concept was developed by a number of American management consultants, including W. Edwards Deming, Joeseph Juran, and A.V. Feigenbaum.[3] Originally, these consultants won few converts in the United States. However, managers in Japan embraced their ideas enthusiastically and even named their premier annual prize for manufacturing excellence after Deming.
The Six Sigma management strategy originated in 1986 from Motorolas drive towards reducing defects by minimizing variation in processes.[4]
The main difference between TQM and Six Sigma (a newer concept) is the approach.[5] At its core, Total Quality Management (TQM) is a management approach to long-term success through customer satisfaction.

Participation during production and tests. The customer, who requires inspection, usually defines the scope of the inspection activities and tests according to its procedures. DCS-LL-C then checks compliance with the documents delivered by the customer in the form of approved technical documentation, procedures, and provisions in contracts or as reference to generally available standards. Either an inspection report or certificate on conformity is issued.
Provision of compliance with legislation requirements. Based on basic project submitted by the customer, DCS-LL-C will define additional requirements of legislation requirements of the target country or compliance of the same is reviewed during production, completion or operation tests. This type of service is usually used for supplies where a general contractor dispatches equipment to third country.

New standard EN ISO 50001:2011 – energy management system. Due to the growing costs of energies and as a result of searching for a new solution within industry a new standard was introduced, focusing on energy management with the objective to reduce costs of companies and overall CO2emissions.
Potential of savingsDirect consumption of machines. Within industrial production an important source of savings consists of optimising energy consumption by production lines, machines and various other equipment. We focus on whether various machines and equipment are not running without use, whether their output is optimised, and whether they are properly adjusted.
Production technology. Another factor influencing energy consumption is optimisation of technological procedures which means that the same objective (namely a product of identical quality) can be achieved by changing the technological procedure with the objective of saving energies. This does not necessarily involve only the technological procedure itself but work organisation on shifts may be involved as well.
Energy consumption not directly related to production. Insufficient thermal insulation, lighting system, obsolete ventilation, inefficiently arranged places of work and other drawbacks within auxiliary processes are another potential source of savings.
Attitude of employees. Training and incentives in favour of employees in order to support meaningful savings provides companies with another positive effect when you consider all the invoices covering energy consumptions.
Analysis of the initial state. The first step is to find out what the consumption of energy is during various states of operation, shifts and seasons. If it is not entirely detectable, then invest in measuring and monitoring equipment and subsequently analyse the consumption of energy according to individual operations, equipment, buildings. Then create a system of records, which will serve for subsequent monitoring.
Proposals for savings. Within the scope of energy policies, determining the organisational measures and possibly arising investments would lead to a decrease among the greatest “consumers”, whether it concern debugging a production line, replacing equipment, organising shifts, relocating or heat cladding buildings.
Implementation of measures. They can be used independently or (which is what we recommend) used in integration with other standards of modern management systems, particularly on the basis of ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 standards, which can cover the complex management system according to type, size and field of business. Subsequently, a comparison should be conducted with the initial state, whether or not only savings have occurred but also whether other parameters have worsened in the field of quality production or company economics.
External audit. An audit performed by an independent side can contribute to further energy savings thanks to experience and an objective view.
Energy policy (3.2) The basic element of the entire system, which has to include the status of company management’s commitment to energy management. The energy policy determines the long-term direction of the company. It affects the future company economics. Informally established energy policies lead to future savings in not only energy but also investment funds.

Mandatory energy inspection of an enterprise or organization is carried out stage by stage, within the following phases:
- Assessment of the energy efficiency of an enterprise, determination of probable reasons of impractical use of (energy) resources, and selection of priority energy-saving areas
- Analysis of existing contractual arrangements with energy (resource) providers.
- Analysis of performance of the existing control and accounting system. Verification of whether device control data is complete and reliable. Verification of whether reporting documents are objective and representative.
- Assessment of the technical condition of power-engineering equipment in terms of efficiency of energy use. Analysis of existing maintenance regulations, justification and regularity of repair and restoration works.
- Assessment of performance of power-engineering equipment based on verification of whether the actual load corresponds to the installed capacity of production power-engineering equipment. A retrospective analysis of changes in production indicators and the energy business. Assessment of changes in energy consumption depending on production load based on available historical data.
- Assessment of the effectiveness of resource consumption planning. Selective assessment of growth in energy consumption caused by irregular production.
- A generalized assessment of potential growth of energy efficiency through the elimination of unreasonable losses of energy resources caused by physical wear and tear of equipment, inadequate process flowcharts, operating management and the existing system of accounting and control of energy resources.
- Assessment of potential energy saving yielded by implementation of energy saving technologies and state-of-the-art energy-efficient equipment.
- Determination of top-priority areas for increased energy efficiency of production and the reduced financial cost of resource procurement.
- Development of measures and technical solutions to be included in the Energy Performance Certificate of the enterprise and (if necessary) the Energy Saving Program. Development and authorization of the Energy Performance Certificate of the enterprise
- Inventory-taking of major energy consuming equipment for completion of standard forms of the Energy Performance Certificate.
- Assessment of actual FER consumption balances.
- Assessment of actual specific consumption of FER.
- Development of commercially reasonable measures and technical solutions to be included in the Energy Performance Certificate.
- Completion of standard forms of the Energy Performance Certificate.
- Authorization of the Energy Performance Certificate by the management of the enterprise and superior organizations.
- Development of the Program for Increased Energy Efficiency of Production and Development of the Energy Business for major industrial enterprises
- Determination of criteria and priorities for formation of the program. Development and authorization (by specialists of the enterprise) of a concept of the program for development of the energy business and rational use of energy.
- Check of fundamental limitations in terms of technical implementation of energy saving measures and innovative projects in manufacturing conditions of the enterprise.

5S is the name of a workplace organization method that uses a list of five Japanese words: seiri,seiton,seiso,seiketsu, and shitsuke. Transliterated or translated into English, they all start with the letter "S". The list describes how to organize a work space for efficiency and effectiveness by identifying and storing the items used, maintaining the area and items, and sustaining the new order. The decision-making process usually comes from a dialogue about standardization, which builds understanding among employees of how they should do the work.
1. Sorting (Seiri)
Eliminate all unnecessary tools, parts, and instructions. Go through all tools, materials, and so forth in the plant and work area. Keep only essential items and eliminate what is not required, prioritizing things per requirements and keeping them in easily-accessible places. Everything else is stored or discarded.
2. Stabilizing or Straightening Out (Seiton)
There should be a place for everything and everything should be in its place. The place for each item should be clearly indicated.
3. Sweeping or Shining (Seiso)
Clean the workspace and all equipment, and keep it clean, tidy and organized. At the end of each shift, clean the work area and be sure everything is restored to its place. This makes it easy to know what goes where and ensures that everything is where it belong
4. Standardizing (Seiketsu)
Work practices should be consistent and standardized. All work stations for a particular job should be identical. All employees doing the same job should be able to work in any station with the same tools that are in the same location in every station. Everyone should know exactly what his or her responsibilities are for adhering to the first 3 S''''s.
5. Sustaining the Practice (Shitsuke)Maintain and review standards. Once the previous 4 S''''s have been established, they become the new way to operate. Maintain focus on this new way and do not allow a gradual decline back to the old ways. While thinking about the new way, also be thinking about yet better ways. When an issue arises such as a suggested improvement, a new way of working, a new tool or a new output requirement, review the first 4 S''''s and make changes as appropriate.It should be made as a habit and be continually improved.
The Origins of 5S
5S was developed in Japan. It was first heard of as one of the techniques that enabled what was then termed ''''Just in Time Manufacturing''''. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology''''s 5-year study into the future of the automobile in the late 1980s[2] identified that the term was inappropriate since the Japanese success was built upon far more than components arriving only at the time of requirement. John Krafcik, a researcher on the project, ascribed Lean to the collective techniques being used in Japanese automobile manufacturing; it reflected the focus on waste in all its forms that was central to the Japanese approach.
