AdapTag development kit provides a simple, working reference design for hardware and software development on sub 1 GHz at 433MHz applications, based on the Texas Instruments CC430 RF MCU with ultra-low power active matrix electronic paper displays (EPD’s) from Pervasive Displays Inc (PDi). The AdapTag board with PDi’s EPD is able to operate as host or slave, and contains Advanced Low Power Star (ALPS) protocol stack, programmable firmware code and open source software that can be tailored towards many different EPD applications.

Densitron’s engineering and commercial team worked in conjunction with British Airways to create an electronic tag that replaces the traditional paper barcode tag. The requirement was to create an electronic tag that worked in all airports exactly like a current paper barcode tag.

Densitrons team have created a product that enables the low power e-paper displays to be powered only when updates to the displays are needed, which is achieved by holding your phone next to the tag, which results in images remaining on the displays to allow the process of checking in your bag and through the baggage system, ready to be loaded onto your flight. Densitrons completed deliverable was a finished electronics solution, ready to be attached to your bag and available for use.
