Alphanumeric OLED Replacements From Densitron

Densitron’s Alphanumeric OLED modules provide a Cost-Saving and Mechanically Compatible Solution toVacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) users who require a replacement/upgrade option that offers greater value.

OLED modules are superior to VFDs in terms of display performance, and cost and energy efficiency:

 

Display Performance

  • Compared to VFDs, OLED displays have faster response time and wider viewing angle (near 170°), as well as higher contrast (10000:1), brightness (100 cd/m2) and colour saturation without the need for colour filters.
  • The space between each OLED pixel is 5 times less than that of a VFD, enabling a smoother graphic display.

 

Lifetime & Energy Efficiency

  • OLED modules offer up to 50K hours half-life time and consume 50% less power than VFDs.


Cost Efficiency

  • A VFD requires PCB, electronics and mechanical parts to be mounted around its frame. It also needs thick and strong sealing glasses to ensure vacuum encapsulation. All these contribute to the bulky construction and high production cost of a VFD.
The maximum thickness of an OLED display is just 1.3 mm as it is only made up of a single emissive layer which is sandwiched by two thin glasses. Since an OLED display requires fewer components to drive, BOM are significantly reduced.
