The inception of Deshpande Laboratories Pvt Ltd (DL) stems from the young mind of our founder, Dr. Deshpande, who currently is the managing director of the limited company. His passion to make a difference to our society drove him in his early days to pursue training in anti-cancer research at Department of Research, Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, from eminent cancer and radiation biologist such as Dr. P. Umadevi under limited research environment prevailing then in Bhopal, India. He pursued MPhil degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, Institute of Cancer Therapeutics, Institute of Pharmaceutical Innovation, University of Bradford, United Kingdom) and later won Dr. Marie Curie fellowship to pursue rigorous doctoral research at Institute of Genetics Molecular and Cell Biology (IGBMC, France), trying to understand progression of human cancers. Dr. Deshpande's dream has always been to develop a company that can help global hunt for 'curative' anti-cancer drugs by rapidly bridging basic science discoveries and clinical research. His dream has led development of a catalyst that speeds-up translation of R & D drugs to clinics by providing quality pre-clinical drug testing services. In early days, Dr. Deshpande has also worked with Cancer Pharmacology Group at Nicholas Piramal Research Center and contributed to in vitro and in vivo screenings that contributed towards development of two anti-cancer drug patents. Dr. Deshpande is one of the countries youngest leaders in Contract Research Organization (CRO) sector and continues to show strength by rapid growth since the humble beginnings of DL.
