Type Design is one of the areas closest to our hearts. Being very fundamental in nature, we believe its implications are far-reaching. We take pride in the very fact that almost all publicatons in Malayalam use our typefaces in some way or other.
We would love to take up type design projects in Malayalam and Roman Scripts and to develop symbols and cliparts specific to a subject or region. Since we believe that to design type, one should know a language or culture closely, we refrain from designing type in any other language.+ Read More

Roman Typeface Logo Design

- Indus took its birth during IDC Design Degree Show 1993 when the onus of designing a typeface for the logo was bestowed on me. Though the germ of the idea of designing Roman typeface based on the still-undecipherable Indus Valley inscriptions and Cuneiform was in my mind for long, the first few letters were designed at IDC. The complete set emerged when I decided to send it for Lino type's First International Type Design contest in 1994. It won the development prize and Linotype distributes it worldwide as a part of their Take Type collection (and paying royalties on its sales ever since!). (See Linotype Site)
- Quirky in nature, the typeface has an inscribed feel to it with a few very distinct forms which have not been seen before. Indus is one of the very few (if not the only) Roman typeface designed in India, inspired by India.

Elephants captures the pachyderm in many moods and actions in silhouette, while Kalari freezes many postures of the fabled martial art from of Kerala and yogic postures are best summarised in Yoga. All as easy-to-use and light-on-hard-disk fonts.
But the most ambitious is Warli, which distills the artform of rural Maharshtra in a set of three fonts which can be usde to create your own Warli paintings digitally.
