Technical grade mixed xylene is a mixture of xylene isomers (ortho-xylene, meta-xylene, and para-xylene) and may also contain small amounts of other hydrocarbons. It is a colorless, aromatic liquid with a sweet, solvent-like odor. Xylene has the chemical formula C₆H₆, and in its mixed form, it is commonly used as a solvent in various industrial processes.
Applications of technical grade mixed xylene include:

3. *Chemical Intermediate*: It serves as a starting material for the production of other chemicals, such as terephthalic acid, which is used in the production of polyester.
4. *Aromatics Production*: Mixed xylene is used as a feedstock in the production of high-purity xylene isomers, which are used in the manufacturing of plastics, fibers, and other materials.
As technical grade, mixed xylene may contain impurities that limit its use in food or pharmaceutical applications but is suitable for industrial purposes. Care should be taken when handling mixed xylene due to its flammability and potential health risks from prolonged exposure.
