Description

• Active Ingredient: Semaglutide.

Common UsesThe 0.5 mg dose is primarily an escalation dose used during the first two months of treatment to minimize gastrointestinal side effects as the body adjusts to the medication. It is not an approved maintenance dose for long-term chronic weight management, which is typically 1.7 mg or 2.4 mg. Wegovy is indicated for chronic weight management in adults and adolescents with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related condition. It is also used to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in adults with established heart disease who are also obese or overweight. Important Safety InformationWegovy carries a boxed warning regarding the risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. It should not be used in individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, headache, and fatigue. Serious side effects can include pancreatitis, gallbladder issues, low blood sugar (particularly when combined with other diabetes medications), kidney problems, and severe allergic reactions.
