Bone Loss Treatment
Denosumab 60 mg is primarily used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high risk of fractures, as well as bone loss due to hormone therapy in cancer patients. -
RANKL Inhibitor
It is a monoclonal antibody that works by inhibiting RANKL (Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor κB Ligand), a protein essential for the formation and function of osteoclasts (cells that break down bone). -
Subcutaneous Administration
Given as a subcutaneous injection once every 6 months, typically in the upper arm, upper thigh, or abdomen. -
Requires Supplementation
Patients are often advised to take calcium and vitamin D supplements during treatment to reduce the risk of hypocalcemia (low blood calcium).
